Default JDM final drive=improvement in 1/4 times??????

will the JDM final drive improve your 1/4 times.....someone on this board said like .4 0r .3 of a second quicker......if so i would like to purchase one..how much?

I smell smoke...j/k. I would like to see what the JDM final drive and the Type-R fifth would do. Is anyone running this setup?

i'd be curious as well. I know the main reason for a final drive is for [real] racing, but i wonder how it affects straight line acceloration.

in a old best motoring, it showed 96 and 98 spec have exactly the same 1/4 time.

i doesnt help much on 1/4 speed but help in road courses

If you watched the vid a million times you would have heard the reason for the new final drive was because of the bigger 16 inch rim they added in 98 so I would assume with a 15 inch rim and the final drive you would have a slight advatage in the 1/4 but with 16's you would be = to a USDM ITR with 15's.

Yup; another reason is the switch to the 4-1 header (and I've heard the crank is lighter but dunno if that's a rumour). Having the higher FD gives better torque to wheels, to compensate for lost low-end torque from 4-1 header...
