problem with vtec
i have a obd0 b16 in 89 dx crx,my mod are the i/h/e,skunk 2 pro series i/m,pr3 ecu,and apexi 2 VAFC,problem is when punch it ,vtec seem to be langing,my vtec hits at 4700,i keep speeding threw 1 and 2 gear untill the end of second it start to pull hard, then the vtec does hit hard threw all the gears, then when i turn off the car and turn it on again starts all over again. Can anybody help me with this?
Thanks
Thanks
vtec hits at 4700? ... did you change that with your vafc? that doesnt really make sense to me. I thought most vtec motors switched over in the 5k range. (my ITR motor changes over at 5700rpm).
maybe you could try switching your vtec point back over. for most people, all you really need is to have vtec hit right where your redline upshifts land (on an itr motor, thats 5700 rpm). that way, you're in vtec throughout a WOT run, shifting at redline. the only real advantage you'd get from lowering your vtec crossover is 1) you're in vtec earlier in 1st gear, before your first shift. however, lowering vtec too much would cause an undesirable condition with too much valve overlap down low. this would cause your engine to "lag"
just a thought. its hard to say without riding in the car. but your crossover point sounds low. i dont know the spec... but maybe someone else can chime in.

ok, i just checked... and (i hope this is correct) ... i think B16s are supposed to cross over at 5200 rpm. but sometimes the tachometer doesnt read correctly after the swap. If you're reading the switchover from your vafc, then you have a problem.
when i swap the b16 into the crx the vtec hit at 4400,and i put the vafc so i can
hit vtec higher at 4700,i did all of this more then a year ago, and the lag start about 2 to 3 mouht ago, thanks

pr3 and pw0 differ slightly (about 400rpm) in the vtec crossover point.
5400 and 5800 respectivley, IIRC.
