ITR caliper vs. Accord V6 caliper
I often hear the ITR uses an Accord V6 caliper or vice versa. Are they the exact same part number? If they are the exact same calipers, would a junkyard charge more for an ITR caliper than an Accord V6 caliper?
Thanks
Thanks
auto shop told me ITR is using prelude's caliper isnt it ?
and the reason why ITR's brake is better than prelude is coz prelude is heavier and R is lighter

ITR and prelude are almost the same, almost, but different, ITR stock calipers has wider clearance for disc (the gap where the pads mounted in)compare to prelude.

when i did my itr brake up grade ala fastbrakes.com (
)the parts are the same on the 98 accord wagon and the itr, the preludes are similar pad contact size but there are some other different specs in terms of size of external mounting parts

Haha, ask a simple question...
Now that we have established they are (maybe) the exact same caliper, do you think a junkyard would charge more or less for either one?
A junkyard gave me a price of $35 each for 95 Accord V6 calipers. That price sounds a little low for me. Or is this a good way to get ITR calipers for cheap (because a salvage yard may sell ITR calipers for more because they're from an ITR)?
This is what I've heard too.
Thanks for the replies.
PS I'm not complaining that the price is low
I just want to make sure they are giving me the correct parts. The Accord V6 and wagon use the same front brakes.

$45 each for these calipers from a salvage yard is normal.
$35 is a good price, but make sure they are in good condition... it is very very hard ot get the seals in properly if you have to rebuild them yourself.
Yes the accord wagon, prelude vtec and itr are the same part number. I forget what year preludes, it is at least the latest and greatest generation though.
beware the 2000+ prelude vtec is different. they have a different mounting bracket.. they need a spacer between the knuckle and the caliper mount. (I have these on my GSR so I didnt have to mill off the usual 4mm to make them fit
)
FYI, I have had places charge me more for GSR parts that are the same as LS parts. I found out by going back the next day and talking to a different guy and getting a much cheaper price when I said it was an integra LS that I needed the parts for (that was for checking prices on rebuilt rear calipers)

. i had a little mis-hap wid one of mine and i was able to get one from a 92-95 legend from the local yard for like $30.
...I believe it was Brian Hasty(fastbrakes.com) that said you need to find a T23 stamp cast into the mounting bracket part of the caliper... this part needs minor material removal(ground off) in order to bolt on to a GSR with redrilled Prelude rotors... If you get calipers with a T25 stamp cast in, your stuck having 3mm or so machined off in order to use them...
