best all in one coilover/damper kit...
alright... looking for the best streetable performance oriented coilover kit... it has to be in the 1500 dollar range or less... please no hating...
please keep the additions to the list along these lines... not "konis with GC" i want a independantly adjustable ride height... thanx

ok... apparently people don't ever read the post... i want independant suspension height adjustment... this would NOT be koni's with GC... and i specifically said that i was not interested in this setup for this reason... i want a streetable full kit that is performance oriented with the ability to lower the car a considerable amount... I posted this in the RR/AutoX forum because if i didn't some mod would end up moving it here anyways... i understand you all are very hardcore track oriented, yet, this is not my goal, and merely wanted an opinion involving the type of choice i am looking for with my purpose in mind...

I have yet to meet a racer who RAVES about any adjustable coil-over in that price range. Most of it is imported crap.
The Progress stuff is hard to beat in that price range. They are not adjustable (except for height), but are custom valved for each application. I've been on mine nearly three years without a failure or rebuild.
If you want to impress your homies at the local cruise, get some adjustable aluminum **** with green or red anodizing. If you care about durability and performance, Progress would be a good choice.

PS: Progress's shock body is also shorter than most, so you'll be able to lower it all the way to the point of being completely useless, which sounds like the direction you're headed anyway...

you are all very big people online... appreciated... and no, i have no desire to "slam my car all the way yo" but i'm not going to lie, i do have a desire to have the car lower than a gc set up... i just find it fascinating that people flame on this site just because they feel like they are better... it's an opinion poll... all of you are entitled to such an opinion, yet i want the independant height adjustment (meaning the whole shock body moves jack@$$)... and i'm well aware of the suspension forum, EVERYTHING i post there for some reason gets moved here... so flame and hate all you want... i'll just move on to the next opinion... thanx.... bye :-D

u wanted an opinion...
you got a bunch.

all of which specifically avoided the general idea of my post just to be ****** about it... so honda-tech... is anyone in the RR/Auto-x section not a total hater on everything and anything that does not: A. run stock with just simple spring combos... or B. has to have koni and GC.... ALRITE I GET THE IDEA! but that doesn't stop me from enjoying building a street car first and a car for open track days and autoX's second... i'm interested in streetable, good looking, performance... as much of a contradition as that may be... does that hinder youR ALL KNOWING minds to help someone out? I mean... if you all know SOOOO much... this should be a simple question for you to think outside the box right? I guess not... you are all to limited to "koni and gc" "koni and gc" "koni and gc"..... and god forbid i ever ask another question on this forum... i'll be told to "take a stock car first to an autoX, or i won't like it" which is a bunch of crap... I like it just fine, i'm not there to compete, just to have fun... get the concept?
if you begin to lower the car lower than 5" measured in the front at jacking points (5" measured at the front jack points is just about where the tires would start to tuck), you are adversly affecting the suspension geometry and it would not be performance at all in this case. You also begin to run the risk of hitting the upper front control arm up into the fender well. Things like your tie rods would be at such an angle that bumpsteer (dynamic toe) would begin to be a problem. Your axles will also be at such an angle.
Bascially if you want to lower so much that your lower control arms are now pointing up instead of level or downward, you are ver well hindering the performance and handling of your car. I have not seen any fast and consistent track-only civics that are very vey low.
Right now i'm sitting at 5-1/4" measured in the front jack point, and 5-1/2" measured in the rear jack points. This give me about 1.5 'finger gap' all around. 400in'lbs in the front and 375in/lbs in the rear...i need to raise my car another 1/8" i'm almost bottoming/hitting bumpstops on my daily drive and this is with tophats, but i do have about 1" shock piston travel. I have standard length spss3 valved konis with full length GC sleeves and tophats. This combo works great for me, though i am aching for stiffer spring rates.

what i mean about GC not going low enough is that at a certain point with a piece together kit like that, shock performance itself is hindered... so obviously with GC's you can't go low safely, and in doing so loose more performance than you would say with a full coilover kit... I want to maintain full shock travel ESPECIALLY because i plan to daily the car and don't want to be bottoming out my shocks or even run the risk of such a thing... so if i go with a kit like koni and gc i COULD go as low as i want to, but i wouldn't be able to do it with holding the shock integrity...
also, i don't have any desire to be THAT low... i don't want a crazy *** dumped ride, i don't want only an inch or something like that either... i don't wanna bottom out everywhere, and i don't want to be steamrolling...

get shortened shocks. or the tophats with the std length ones. there's many ways to go about it. You basically dont want to sit on the bumpstops, 1" of shock travel is ideal when you are lowered depending on your spring rates. Keep in mind that even though with the kits out there that 'maintain travel' you are still lowering all the other components of your suspension beyond any performance enhancement. Example is you are lowered tucking your tires with the 'jdm-kit' while maintaining shock travel but now you are binding and hitting your upper control arms...but! your shocks have full travel! =/ and you have bad geometry angles with the stock control arms etc.
The damping and valving in the sport Konis, be it the shelf or the spss3, is vastly greater than any "put together 'jdm' kit" i've seen, and many others who can interpret damper dynos better than i can will attest to this.

i have Omni powers ITR sport 12/10k on my EG.. but not dampening adjustable. theyve been good for the past year. i think if i were to upgrade Buddy Club and or CST coilovers(made by silk road w/ swift springs) would be my choice!

Your getting flamed because the forum rules here are to post about racing... not what suspension you should use ( there is a separate forum for that BTW - https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum/54 ). Most of the people in this forum are concerned on how the car handles, not how low it will go.
Also, you need to do more searching. GC + Koni installed with the extra travel trick and add the GC tophats and you will be able to get the car pretty damn low and keep a decent ride. But I have never set-up a car like that, it would be to low for any race track I race on.
