Honda Fit Vs Nissan Versa
Hi,
Have you guys seen the Nissan Versa? It seems to be a pretty competitive alternative to Fit. I've always wanted to get the Fit, but since I've seen Versa, I'm shaked..
What do you think?
btw, Versa got 6-speed manual, 122 hp, 127 lb-ft torque.. at the same price.. options for moon roof, blue-tooth phone connection, built-in sub-woofer, etc...

that and with the fit being so damn gorgeous, and its a honda, i would choose the fit over the versa and the yaris anyday.

It's a Renault
It's a Renault
The versa is heavier, gets worse fuel economy, and is slower, plus it makes less use of the available interior room, and with the same options, its slightly more expensive. Plus, the looks are a bit off, and it handles like dirt. I've driven one, and think its no comparison.
but hey..
the versa's got 127 lb-ft @ 4800!!!
weight 2732 lb
lb-ft per lb = 0.0465
the fit only has 105!?
weight 2471 Lb
lb-ft per lb = 0.0425
Fit has ~8.6% less torque per weight ratio than Versa.
not to mention versa is a 6-speed..
acceleration should be better...

they compared this in motor trend, the honda came out on top, said it was more fun to drive, and thet the nissan was like a minature minivan..and expensive if i remeber correctly.

Well, kinda. Its on the same chassis as the Euro Renault Modus (although it's slightly lengthened for the Nissan). The bodywork is hella different to our version, called the Note (which i think looks better than the Versa). Some of the engines are the same as the Renault, but i'm not sure if the USDM gets the same motors. The most popular ones over here will be diesel versions anyway; frugal and fairly quick.
Heres some pics of our version, the Note, just for reference

Well, they are a good car. My next door neighbour has a brand new one, identical to the one in the picture above, and actually traded in an 05 Fit for it. They couldn't be happier with the Note, saying that it rides soooo much better than the quite harsh riding Fit. I don't know however, if the suspension settings are different in the US to the UK, usually US models have softer sprung suspension than over here. It does look good though, up close there are some nice details like the tail lamps that curve over the roof and the front end looks rather smart - i guess that's irrelevant though, seeing that the US gets the different looking Versa anyway.
But, as a comparison Top Gear says of the Fit;
"Sharp to drive, well equipped, spacious 5-door hatch with rear seats that fold out of sight into the floor. A class (leading) act."
Its generally accepted that the Jazz/Fit is possibly the best (even if not the cheapest) small car you can buy over here due to its clever interior and space. They seem to appeal to older people and young small families alike. You do see them everywhere, so Honda must have done something right.
Top Gear says of the Note;
"Renault Modus based compact clever-dick motoring. All very well in principal, but it would seem a lot more convincing if people were actually buying them."
However, the Note is a new car which has only been on sale a few months, whereas the Jazz/Fit has been out for about 4 or 5 years or so. So its slightly unfair to compare them by their respective sales records.
They do both get a 13/14 star score out of 20 though (depending on spec/engine etc), so i dont think there's a lot between them to be honest.
And Renault do sell millions of cars here also, so they know what they're doing too.
