Top speed of ATS FD and ITR 5th...
Well I did a top speed run today and I was able to hit 144mph (indicated), then I bounced off the rev limiter. I've got the ATS 4.9 final drive witht he stock USDM 5th. I tell you what, it gets there pretty damn quick. Not sure on times, but its a hellav alot better then stock
That is with the stock limiter... It was on a 5 lane express way (I75) and I was booking down the fast lane, passing about 2 other cars the entire way. This is a completely stock R with ATS FD. Fly and clutch go on this weekend. Car has about 12000 miles on it, motor about 1500 (spun bearing, new motor under warrenty).
As for stearing, handled like a charm, both hands on the wheel and foot on the floor.

Cool man.. My road test mag says these cars will only do 145 stock...
What the hell do those guys know anyway

Before the final drive, I got it up to an indicated 155mph (could not tell, was past 150) coming accross aligator alley. Took for ever to get there too. According to the gear calculator, I should only be able to get around 136 with the ATS, so I think the speedo is off.
Who needs to go that fast anyways, ats is for the turns

shrug... 5 of us.. i'd say we down 3 cases easy on saturday.....
Hahaha... yea and that was not including the night before. We would have drank a crap load more that night, but due to some issues that arose, we were not in the mood to drink any more. Tranny worked great after the FD install. Even when everybody had fun mixing up the gears and syncros
Tranny was smooth as butter, to bad the motor thought other wise.

With JUST our 4.929 FD,
141.8 MPH mathematically speaking with an 8500 RPM cutoff and stock tire, 23.44in diameter.
Remember that both the Tach and Speedo are off a little. The Tach by as much as 400 RPM at redline and the Speedo as much as 3 MPH which could explain the higher top speed.

Does installing the final drive have an effect on the speedo readout at lower speeds. Kind of like how putting huge tires on a truck effects the speedo readout. I was just wondering if it did, and if so, how it is corrected.

ATS FD is nice, but I think their gear set is even nicer.

Yeah I hit the same ~145 indicated with the same setup recently, but as Anton points out it's only 141 or so in reality...
Still a lot faster than I have any business driving...
But oh so fun!
