dipstick problem (weird one)
ok just put a d16a1 motor in my 88 rex just put new oil in it since i rebuilt it. i know for a fact i dont have an oil leak looked everywhere and nothin, when i pour in 4 quarts the dipstick is dry? is there anyway this motor out of the 1st gen teg could have a dipstick from another motor? sumbody let me know bc i am stummped?
Are you actually toucing the dipstick with your finger or a paper towel. If you motor was just rebuilt the oil is typically very clear and hard to see on the dipstick. Otherwise you have something clogging up your oil passage and you need to check it.
Do you have a pool of oil laying in the head when you look through your oil cap?

I had the same problem with my d15b I put. I used an aftermarket dip stick and it wouldnt read on it, so I had go to a junk yard and get a d16 or d15 factory stick.
nothins gonna blo.. id say make sure the tube that the the dipstick sits in is all the way in,go for the fith quart if still no reading get the right DS,remember to remove that quart though.
