Hey guy's .... so I bought a new Integra

For it to pass safety it needs the trailing arm bushings replaced, Originally the mechanic who safety inspected my car told me that I could not buy bushing by itself and that I need to buy two new arms (one for each side). But, he was sadly mistaken; I did infact find the bushings.

Now, the problem remains a constant annoyance. I don't have a press to take out the original bushing ( I thought of melting the rubber and hammering it out but I don't believe that's going to happen) or to replace the bushing with the new one.

As of now my option's to my understanding are: Take the arm's off myself, and have the dealer Re-install the new bushings given they have the proper press. (the tricky part is that the bushings themselves have notches on either side - one side only- so it's a serious variable to consider) They could, I'm assuming fab a press to work for it.

Black book on the arm removal/bushing install is 6.2 hrs @ 90$/hr cdn. So Fuvk that.

I have a general idea from my own provided knowledge and my friends; but from anyone who has undergone this task before some help would be greatfully appreciated. **Full insructions** or **helpfull hints**

there is also a link in there somewhere, for the tool to purchase. I have the ebay users name, Mike something, but search for that tool on ebay. he might have one still in stock.

 

take off the trailing arm and take it to a machine shop to let them press it out, I did my that way and it only cost me 15 dallor a press so for both 30 dallor. Get a after maket like prothane or energy supension or go with stock one and just take it to a machine shop.

I already have the prothane ones (red) I've heard they're not as good as OEM because The Prothane/ES bushings do not allow the right dimensions of travel; but other's ask for proof saying they did the install and things went fine. + Partsource rents out the tool!

 

yeah I got the prothane trailing arm bushing too. Alot of people in here say it will blind the supension but I don't feel anything different but it is much stiffer then stock.

 

Hod did you do the install? ... the tool or a press?

 

I take the part to a machine shop to press out the old one and they install my new one.

 

Any other input?? I don't think i'm using the press

what you can do is melt the rubber part off and then if you have a sawzaw cut the sleeve out and then if you can put your other bushing in

 

Your still not going to be able to get the new bushing in. Definetly need a press.

 

I had the same problem with my DA. So I removed the control arms and had a machine shop press the new ones on.

 

i had my lcas off the car and was able to hammer them out. I had no ride, and no press, so i made due. If your lowered, clock them by rotating a few degrees counterclockwise

 

Mugen makes the OEM Like replacements, get those and be done with! as for getting out the old ones....big ******* hammer...and to get the new ones in you ask? big ******* hammer. this is NOT rocket science...i did this before. the bushing change-out that is...not the rocket science thang...

 

The honda OEM replacement(52385-sr3-000) = mugen replacements. They were redesigned. Acura actually had a diff bushing then honda, but age still takes a toll on them.

I think when I clocked mine, it was something like 15* Seemed that with being super low, and not so low, the bushing was very minimally changed. Seemed to be just the initial drop that kills these things.
