Have to make sacrifices. With a B16 tranny at 70mph you will be at 4000rpm

do you currently have a GSR tranny?

If so I would keep that.

I have a B16A y1 tranny, its really short.
5th gear 45 mph almost 3K rpm,

Many people swap out the 5th gear for an ls 5th gear.
but its up to you.

And why would you be going 100?
Unless your at the track.

are you trying to race this car on the track (1/4 mile) ??? If so yes get the b16 tranny...otherwise just keep your GSR tranny.

And I agree with the others...no need to cruise at 100mph...you're going to kill someone. Has anyone ever noticed that no matter how fast you drive when you're trying to beat someone to a certain place (and they aren't even speeding) that the other person that wasn't speeding gets there not even 5 minutes later? It's not worth speeding...

i think there is another topic with a link to a site that list all the diff b series trannys in terms of rpms from i think like 4k to like 8.5k? and it shows the mph you will be in gears 1-5. it covers all trannys and some w/LSD

i love havin a b16 tranny in my GSR. Yea the gears are short, but i don't drive much faster than 70-75 on the highway so it's not bad.

still get 30MPG without a prob.

also a type-r tranny and b16 tranny have very similar gear ratios, so it's probably not worth it to sholl out the extra money for one, except for the LSD

USDM ITR is a b16 tranny with lsd no differeneces at all..unless you get a JDM itr tranny. with a 4.7 final. i believe the usdm itr has a 4.4 final drive.

This might help you decide...it is a tranny gear calculator.

^What he said.

Get the B16 tranny and put LSD, and if you wan't even better gearing, throw in the JDM final; it's one of the best performance mods you can do while still keeping it factory spec
