Default question about factory D-series intakes

i've heard from a few people that the y8 intake manifold was like the type r manifold of the d-series. i've got a z6 in my car with the z6 manifold. is what i've heard true? will i really pick anything up switching to the y8 manifold?

Yes, it's true. The Y8 manifold has a larger plentnum. I hear the runners are longer than the Z6 manifold for better low end torque. I can take some pics of mine and send them to you if you want.

I put one on my minime and noticed a little gain up top. I ran a 15.7 in my crx with a stock exauhst manifold. This was my 1st run and then my trany went sour, so it was definitly capable of a 15.5 and even better if I had a decent header with the combo.
