1999 Accord EX V6 Oil Pan
Hi everyone. This is my first time in the accord forum. I'm usually at the EG/EK forum.
My mom's accord has a terrible oil drain plug (from shop that impacted drain plug and stripped the threads). I attempted to use an oversize plug, but it was hard to get the plug in straight, as the threads were really messed up. I ended up oversize-threading it in crooked - now its really messed up.
Anyway, I was wondering for those that know:
Is it mandatory for the exhaust manifolds to come out for me to change the oil pan for the V6?
my mom drives the car everyday to work, so i haven't had a chance to get a good look. (altho i do check oil every other day and fill if necessary)
I'm from chicago, and I KNOW that the exhaust flange bolts are melted/rusted together...
any help would be much appreciated. Thanks you guys. I had a 93 accord in high school, and i loved it, btw to show some accord love.
OH, I forgot to ask..is there also any other possible way to fix this messed up drain plug, altho it was threaded in crooked?..like, taking it to a shop and oversize threading it to the EXTREME?!..i dont know, i'm gonna go get a freakin' mountain dew now.

unfortunately you can't really tap aluminum pans, I would be worried of cracking the damn thing if you had somebody try to make the hole bigger, I would just change the pan, it is quite a job though, the headers should be 2 pieces so you would just need to drop the B pipe, but then again its easier said than done
change the pan or take it off and go to a shop that specializes in aluminum working to have them fix it or JY and get another one
hey guys. thanks for the replies. It seems as tho i'm just gonna have to sack up and change the pan. once I get around to it, i'll let you know how it went. thanks.
