Default Header gaskets question.

I just picked up a used Vibrant header and am wondering what kind of gaskets I will need for it. I e-mailed the manufacturer and initially they said all OEM, after asking again they said I would need to source the primary-->secondary gasket from them. I'm still waiting for them to get back to me about their gasket. Since the stock header collector is smaller then the 2.5 of the Vibrant, will the stock gasket work? Also, would it be a good idea to replace the nuts and bolts (header to head, and header to cat) since I have it all apart?

yeah you need their gaskets because the oem gaskets don't look like the aftermarket ones.

you can replace those bolts if you like (it's just good measure because they will rust and you might break if you take it apart)

Gasket Kits are most easily purchased through a local Honda dealer. We don't sell gasket kits separately and we actually go to the dealer ourselves when we need one in a hurry.</TD></TR></TABLE>

His last convo to me yesterday.

You can use the Honda OEM gasket from Header to head and header to cat. If you need to replace the 4-2 gasket, I am not sure you can get that from the dealer. Is that gasket shot? If so, we would have to supply that one for you

Thanks,</TD></TR></TABLE>

I already bought a stock gasket set (I will need it eitherway)

You can use the oem exhaust manifold gasket. I believe you can use the oem header to cat gasket you may have to trim it. but the upper manifold to lower manifold gasket I am almost positive isnt stock.

By any chance does the gasket look like the gasket on the upper left hand side of this picture.

I have been trying to get ahold of this gasket. if you have any luck please let me know.

see the oem a-pipe to b-pipe gasket is just two rings

i know because i have those two rings laying around because i never used it (i bought a greddy header)

and mkazm83, he didn't say "they don't sell gaskets" he said they haven't gotten back to him. vibrant should have them laying around or go to a good exhaust shop, the can cut some or know where to get it.

someone was having this same problem when he bought a used fujitsubo header for his prelude. he couldn't find a prime - secondary gasket and it was leaking. he tried the autozone stuff and it still leaked. until he found an aftermarket place that just sold the gaskets did it fix the problem

Thanks for the input. I'll be looking locally for this http://www.kteller.com/store/p...d/134 and calling the manufacturer tomorrow to see if they can source me that a-b pipe gasket.

that actually isnt the gasket you need. the flange isnt a perfect equalateral triangle. on of the bolt holes is offset. your better off getting a stock one and modifying it. or get it from dc sports they have a 2.5 collector.

as for the a/b pleace let me know if you find it.

Thanks for the info.
I spoke to the manufacturer today (product manager), he said that they dont currently have any headers in production meaning he dosent have any gaskets. He said he would look around to see if he has a demo header he can get one off of for me or if he doesent, he would contact the guy that cuts the gaskets (I assume its done off site) and get back to me.

Well after over a month of waiting (they had to have the gaskets made) I finally got my gasket. After sending me one set, (I ordered 2 gaskets) they were unable to provide me with a tracking number so a second set got sent to meovernight. Does anyone know the torque specs for the A to B pipe bolts? I'll install it this weekend.
