It IS a pretty tight fight. I've had mine long enough where i can just pull it off easily or pop it back on with a firm hit.

To try to get the sides down, try pushing inwards on the bottom portion why applying pressure on the top. Then when you get the sides down, do the same for the front portion (closest to the bumper). Push inwards while applying pressure on the top.

Just gotta put some muscle into it.

Or try this...

Hook one of the sides up so it's actually latched in. And then push REALLY hard down on the other side... while pushing the bottom portion inwards.

This is how i got it in the first time.

when you press the filter adapter (velocity stack thing) down in the box...does the box flex and spread outwards.....Thats why my lid wont close...Ive put all my weight into it.

It seems like your air filter must be too big for the box... thus forcing it inwards causing the sides to bulge out. What kind of filter do you have?

Try contacting Comptech and see if they can recommend you the right filter.
