New clutch squeaks? Is this normal?
I'm looking to buy a GS-R, and one of the cars I was checking out looked really clean except the clutch would squeak every time during take off, especially when the clutch was released slowly. The guy claimed that the clutch was brand new.. is this normal for brand new clutches? Do they need to be broken in first? This'll be my first manual car, so I'm a bit new to them.
Thanks in advance

Ask him if it is an unsprung clutch.
My friend has one in his DA. He bought it with that clutch, and when he pulled it apart thinking something was wrong he found an unsprung disc.
If it is unsprung then yes it is ok for it to squeak.

now are you talking like.. a pretty loud squeak? or just a little one? Cause this one sounds kinda like a loose belt except only when taking off in 1st for a short period of time
It is fairly loud. And yea his only does it in first for a short time. He has a stage three 6 puck unsprung. Does it engage pretty harshly?

I have a stock gsr, brand new clutch as well (OEM) and the pedal still sqeaks. They don't replace the pedal when they replace the clutch.
Is it the pedal that's sqeaking? Because that's pretty common. Especially on an eight-year old car like mine. It doesn't really matter, it's just a little noise.
Is the clutch OEM or aftermarket?

not required to change the pedal. unless its leaking.
could be bearing or fork need some lube.

i've had the same problem for 4 yrs now with my 6 puck clutch in my integ it squeels in first gear, kinda sounds like im peeling out, when people ask what that sound is? i just refer to em as my banging lil indians on there horses l
nah it's not the pedal I'm talking about (although there is a little squeak when pushing the pedal which my friend says is probably an old bushing somewhere, but that doesn't really concern me) it's when it actually starts rolling.. it wasn't me driving cause this is gonna be my first stick car, but my friend said that the clutch feels like it's really new and said it could be cause it's not broken in... but the guy says it has about 10k miles on it and claims that he's been real soft on the clutch.
could it be that it just hasn't been raped enough yet? XD (me learning stick will likely take care of that anyway bahaha)

My clutch is squeaking as well. Its not the pedal, but somewhere under the hood when i push the clutch in and out. Never looked into it yet though, probably just needs some lube.
