Default 88 crx idle question *flame suit on*

i did a search and found a few tips that we tried...my friend's got an 88 crx 5 speed. don't know much else about it. it's been running fine, except for he needs new axles, until about a week or 2 ago the engine started to idle funny. it cycles between ~300 and ~1500rpm and if we just sit at a light or just let the car idle it will stall out sometimes. we've checked all the vacuum lines (he had a cracked line that we replaced..ran off the top of the motor...pcv maybe?) and we changed all the plugs/wires. nothing we've done so far has helped. it came all of a sudden and there's no cel so we've got nothing to go off of here. any suggestions for what it might be/what we might be able to do? i've suggested the sea foam and we might do that this weekend but chances are it won't magically make this problem go away. is this a fuel problem or timing or what? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance guys!

fluctuating idle usually caused by malfunctioning EACV or it could be low coolant level

IACV = idle air control valve\

Back of manifold 2 12mm bolts
Don't need to take off any hoses
Disconnect the connector.
While keeping the holes down spray carb cleaner through holes
Don't lose gasket
reassemble.

5 speed = SI = 1.6 right these are for the 1.6 si.

Might take a couple of times for it to loosen all the crap in there/carbon

yeah it's the SI, we'll give that a shot prolly tonight and i'll post up and let you know how it went. if it's carbon build up would sea foam work also? he thinks it's a fuel problem cause when he put injector cleaner in his gas tank he says it ran "better" but still stalled out.

As far as inj cleaner in the Gtank it will not get to the IACV.

Seafoam won't either thru a vac line. Just won't go there.

Just take it off and clean it it is the best way. and 10 min max.
