Default b16 SIR engine into a 94 GSR

I looked at the FAQ and only saw the b16 into a DA swap. I'm wondering if I can swap one into a 94 GSR? The engine on the GSR has a hole in it so maybe I can swap the head on to the b16. Anyone did a b16 swap into a gsr before? How hard was it?

Why in Gods Earth would you want to do that?

Yes you can, but Not recoomended.

The B16 is not some amazing motor.

the 94 integra is much mor heavy than the DA.

And thats why you saw only B16 swaps for DA's

I have a JDM B16A in my DA. But my stock motor ripped on 94 ls tegs,
becuase of how h eavy they are

Look into B18C1 ls/vtec B18C5 (waste of money IMO)
LS-T

EDIT: Just re-read your post, No dont use a B16 bottom end.
Look for another B18C1 bottom end, Or go Ls/Vtec

The thing is, Your are wrong.

I had a B18A1, before.

this guy has a GSR B18C1, and is downgrading,

And you are wrong, The DA RS is much lighter than the DC2.

I bought the B16 swap becuase my rings blew in my ls motor, its a cheap swap.
thats why I bought it, If I had money I would have gotten the GSR swap

Just get another GSR bottom end,

did i say it wasnt lighter??? i said its still slow...b16 in the da is still a 15 second car...

b18a/b to b16 honestly is not an upgrade...all an ls would need to rain on your parade is a b16 transmission...

you said its not much better in a DA, when I know a DA with B16A swap ran 14.9's
I'm hittin up the trip and I'll bring the timeslips,

You need to learn just alittle bit more.

My rs waighs about 2200, I wonder what his DC2 weighs? almost 3.

Do you not understand this guy has a GSR motor and is wanting to mate a B16 bottom end to it, And I said dont do that. he isnt saying an entire B16

a dc weighs 2600 lbs...where you getting your numbers from??? the b16 in an integra is slow but im not going to argue with you anymore....reality will sink in when you hit the track

i know a gsr that ran 14.5 with bolt ons...does that mean on average they are going to run that??? no...

I have been to the track already.

My post was regarding the OP.

He has a GSR motor and wants to mate a B16, Whats th point?

Hell I would have swapped a B18C or something else if I had the money.

I went from a 300K mile B18A1 with blown rings,
To a 50-90K with nothing wrong with it.

B18A1 to a B16A with boltons is an upgrade.
B18C1 to a B16 Is not an upgrade,

Even my little bro can see that and he is 14,

I'm done. You didnt understand my first post.
so I dont expect you to understand the rest.

none of those are an upgrade...believe what you want though...100 lbs of wtq FTL....

just for the record i was pulling consistent high 14's with the b16 transmission on my b18b....i dont see too many 99-00 si's in the 14's...(lighter car at that)

No I need that swap becuase I can't get another GSR engine, it would cost another 1k more.

So the engine is a OBDII, will it still be a direct drop in? GSR is a OBD1 right?

IMO An upgrade to me is a faster time in the 1/4

You guys act as if I'm saying I bought the B16 over a B18C1,
I didnt have the money or I would have, So lay off.

The B16A sir 1st gen swap is OBD0

And I dont know about the direct drop in,
Are the mounts for the 2nd gen and 3rd gen located in exactly the same spots?
I didnt think so but someone clear this up for me
I understand there in the same gernal spots, But I thought the DC2 engine bay was larger there for they were is bit more space out

And I am hoping for High 14's
Becuase I also have I/H/E No cat,
ES Inserts
6puck stage 3 clutch
tires yoko rubber at 20psi
susp.

A stock B16 in a DA will get low 15's
but i'm not stock

yeah b16 in a DA is not at all impressive either.....not to hate on b16's but i think they were ment for CRX's. just my opinion tho.

LMFAO...IMO b16's in any integra is a downgrade

facts....

displacement B18A/B 1834

displacement B16's 1598

to the OP, just get an ls engine and a b16 head and tranny, and your set

"there's no replacement for displacement", forgot who has that in their sig.

b16 = no tq this what everyone is saying. its the lack of tq in the b16 that makes it not a good chocie for a teg swap.

chu77 just get a b18 bottom end and get to work on it.

in the argument between ls and b16, everyone has a different opinion.

ls= great torque

b16= fun high revving motor

ive ran all three motors in my da..ls, b16 and now a gsr. i understand how you feel the b16 is a downgrade displacement wise..i myself have seen ls w/b16 tranny whoop b16's in stock form but if all motor is what your going after..the b16 has more potential that ls. ive yet to see an all motor ls put out 200 whp all motor

to the op..if your looking for a quick fix for you car..throw in an ls and run on that..later you could use your gsr head and build up a badass lsvtec.

agreed...if you have very high all motor plans...then yes a b16 is better than a b18b...but if you had huge all motor plans you wouldnt be swapping in a b16 into a teg in the first place..."cause its cheap"...shallow pockets and all motor arent synonymous...if you were serious about it...youd hold out for a b18c...

Couldn't agree more. To the OP I think you'd be better off with an LS swap rather than a B16 for your blown GSR.
And to Memphiz nice job pullin the LS into the high 14's.
I got mine there without a B16 tranny.

Im really getting sick of people knocking on b16 motors....and now to say that an LS motor is "better" than a B16 ...... if you really beleve this you need to be smoking something...

1/4 mile times dont mean ****, why doesnt anyone ever bring up reliabilty issues w/ LS motors vs B16 motors

from factory a sir2 b16 makes 170 hp and has a 8k+ redline ive seen them turn over 9k rpm an LS makes 142 hp and redlines at 7K and tend to fall apart over 8k rpm

not to mention an LS head doesnt flow for ****....

and a 1.6 liter motor will get better fuel mileage than a 1.8 liter

i currently own a 94 gsr w/ sir2 swap that runs consistant 14.9 - 15.1, 31mpg highway 24 city
i also own a stock 95 RS with a LS motor and gsr trans runs consistant 15.4 15.6, 27 mpg highway 19 city

both cars are street tuned ...... the gsr is way more fun too drive...

The engine I'm getting is from a SIR= about 170hp and 10 less tq than the b18c.

But it is a OBDII which means I need a converson link?

all im going to say is i ran better times than bolt on civic SI's that had a lighter chasis than your integra...high 14's all day with 93-94 traps...b18b with b16 tranny...im sorry but your 14.9 isnt impressive seeing i was running that and better with your transmission and a b18b...

and you can go to 8k all day...have fun...even though you ran what my car did going to 7k...

personally i see b16 teg owners in the biggest state of denial, they all assemble as a self help group to reassure themselves they made the right choice

I first said,

Not to get the B16 swap into his DC2,

The DC2 is more heavy than the DA rs

And thats why you saw B16 swap more in DA than DC2,

Look into B18C1 ls/vtec B18C5 (waste of money IMO)

EDIT: Just re-read your post, No dont use a B16 bottom end.
Look for another B18C1 bottom end, Or go Ls/Vtec

And then somehow I'm wrong,

I said I got a B16 swap, becuase it wasnt as much as a B18c,
Im 17 and cant just come up with an extra $1,000 like that.

I needed a car to get to school and work,
So dont tell me what I should have done.

this guy wants to drop in a B16 swap, I said dont.

and you guys are telling me that a B18 with b16 tranny will beat me.
Ok well when did we start discussing B18 with B16 tranny?

I'm done with this thread,

I said it before and I'll say it again,

Dont get the B16 swap,

if you can, get a diffrent swap,
Or keep your GSR head and buy a ls bottom end and build an ls/vtec.

Have a nice day.

And I never said I was going all motor.
