Charcoal container on rear firewall..
it is a part of the evaporative emissions system. Basically fuel vapors that used to vent to th atmosphere are no longer allowed to do that, instead they are capturd in that cannister and then released into the intake manifold so allow the vapors to burn off rather than degrade the air.
