Ok well I finally got pulled over in my si this past weekend, while missing the meet in Valley Forge/KOP. Anyway, to make a long story short, the ticket was written out as 79 in a 55. I live in PA, the ticket was in Delaware. My question is, will I get points or what? The ticket itself was like $80, which us PA people know how it is getting a ticket for $106 when going 5 over. I just want to know how this works. I was pulled over in Delaware, so my guess is their rules apply to me, thus the reason the ticket was so low, and if so, then what would be the amount of points I get, if any? Thanks for all the help. O and I know, I shouldn't have been speeding.

Damn. I don't really want to fight it because he dropped it from what it was, by A LOT. I was looking at the Delaware DMV and it said that any violation of 1-14 MPH over will not result in points as long as it is the first violation in 3 years, but in PA, it's like 3 points. ****, I can see my insurance going up now.
You live in PA and the ticket you got was in Delaware. You cannot get points from another state except NJ. Just pay the fine and move on. The ticket will not show up in insurance either.

When I went to Driving Ed, they teached me that in Massachusetts that's how it works:
$100 = Ticket itself
$10 = First 10 miles
$10 = Each mile after the 10 miles..
So If the Speed Limit is 30 and you're going at 50mph your ticket will be:
100 + 10 + 100 = $210
I don't know about the point stuff

Points are given by your home state. Confirm with PA's motor vehicle department. I know here in NY, we do not receive points for violations in any other states, but we do get points for violations in Ontario, CA. Go figure.

I live in PA and know the rules. I stated them for the OP
Last time I checked, NY ppl get points from NJ. NJ ppl gets points from both NY and PA

like another member above said, safest bet is to go to court, plea gulity and go to traffic school so the point does not show up. (not sure if its the same since you got it in a different state)

Nope, I just checked the our DMV site to reconfirm. Only Ontario and Quebec (yeah I missed that one
) violations result in points. However our license will be suspended if we FAIL to pay out of state fines except fines from Alaska, California, Michigan, Montana, Oregon or Wisconsin.

here is michigan you do not get any points for any violations that occur in another state. As for insurance, I think it does not matter where you get the ticket at, the insurance company will know. I never heard of anyone getting points from a ticket in ontario that crazy. I need to check that out and see if it is a michigan law also. I always go to my friends cottage in canada and we do like 100 the whole way cause we thought you couldn't get in trouble in canada and if you were got speeding you would just have to pay the ticket on the spot. (That's how it is if you get pulled over in ohio, and your from MI)

You won't. If you were to get points, the cop has to tell you right there and then. Like I have stated, you will not get points being a PA licensed driver.
<--Got a 116 in a 65 speeding ticket in Nebraska. No points and my insurance never found it either

^^^Haha. Nice. I was definately believing you due to your rep and you sound like you know what you are talking about. I also didn't want to start a fight. Thanks for the help.
Earlier this year I got a ticket for speeding 47 in a 30 MPH zone...
It was my first ticket so the cop said there was a possibility I was eligible for a "Good Driver Option" which basically meant if I agreed to the charge and had no other violations before, instead of a 4 point violation it would only be 2 points. At 20 years old, this was my first ticket, I guess I was eligible for the "good driver option" because i've never had a ticket or violations prior to age 20... The way I found out I was eligible was when the form was mailed to my house, the plea that was typed in was: "Defective Vehicle". I was billed $100... but i've checked and my insurance hasn't increased at all...
I'm in Colorado by the way.

Haha. This was my first reaction and I said it to my friends once I saw the cop's lights, but then I saw that the ticket was only $80, so I was like ok, I'll pay it.

Delaware will send a notice to the PA DMV that the ticket hasn't been paid. PA will then send you a notice of the unpaid ticket. They will then state if you do not pay the fine/resolve the issue soon within XX days, your license will be suspended
