Bulletproofing motor to OEM specs.... Any thoughts??
So my friend and I are getting ready to do a swap in his 00' EX. We're in CA so we have to deal with the **** laws they have out here. What we have is a JDM B18C swap. We already picked up the USDM intake manifold and ECU.
He wants to get this thing certified and go FI in the future so I suggested we just rebuild and bulletproof the motor now to USDM specs.
I know the JDM is 10.6:1 and the USDM is 10:1 so what I was thinking is doing a complete rebuild, sleeving the block and dropping in forged internals with pistons that would yeild 10:1 compression in hopes that he can pass the sniffer...
What do you guys think?
Would porting the head cause any problems with the sniffer? What all could we get away with and still keep the emissions low?
Another question... What if we sleeved it to 2L at the same compression ratio? Would that have an effect on emissions?
