I put an OEM spoiler on my car and I need to adjust the trunk springs so that it holds up the extra weight of the spoiler without falling down. There's two load settings on the springs, but I can't seem to get them to pop over into the other notch.

Does anybody know how to do it?

 

the oem wing should have came with stiffer tensioners.....

its a package deal when you buy the wing from the dealer..

EDIT: you need a special tool to R+R the tensioners...unless you find a weird way of doing it...

well the wing came from Japan with just the trunklid..I didn't get springs with it.

Do you have any clue what the tool looks like? If I knew what to do with them I could probably make something work.

 

broom handle might work for you.

 

yeah its a weird looking tool, i have one @ work i use...you can order one from honda or even snap-on i believe... i could possibly take a pic of it for you tomorrow if im not too busy.....

It's an '89 Civic sedan. if the tool isn't too expensive i'll just try to buy it. I tried for about 20 minutes with the trunk open and shut and I just couldn't get the springs to budge.

 

yeah, theres alot of tension in them..you gotta be careful those things can hurt you..
