Best Shell to build a racing car..
Need your opinion...
I need to build a new racing car and i dont know which Shell to start with...The class that i will run have some minimum weight rules that's is the same for all those cars...I plan to run a k20a2 with some upgrade...the car will need to weight 2600lb with driver i'm near of 200...and i can add max 200lb of plate if i need to...
I'm not sure which one will be the best, let me know what you think and why...
Honda Civic HB 96-00
Honda Civic Coupe 96-00
Acura Integra 94-01
Acura RSX 02-04
For the moment i'm thinking a integra 94-01..what do you guys think...
Thanks,

don't get me wrong, i love preludes, but the DC chassis is much easier to make into a winning race car. Mostly because a lot of people have spent of lot of time figuring stuff out on the DC's, and there's more parts available, but they're also cheaper to run.

Too old for the class that i want to run in...the car chassis cannot be 12 year+
this is why i want to get something arounf 2000 so i can run it at least for a couple of years...

Spare us the suspense... What's the class?

oh ok, well you had listed 94-01 teg. you could find a newer RS or LS teg as well. But without knowing the series and rules, it makes it a little harder to know what to tell you is "good" for you to build on.

you want to run in the quebec hankook touring series?
you're much better off buying a car that's already built, it will save you alot of money and trouble.
look at the standings .. reliability is key!!!
in this year's rules a k20 civic is allowed to be 50lbs lighter than my b18 integra .. i'm getting killed in the straights, i can't see it staying like that next year .. expect the k20 cars min weight to go up.
there are a few cars for sale in the area:

Yeah you could run H4 Then swap then engine to a gsr then run H3 then add cams and brakes and run H1. would be cool way to work up to the fastest class.

Correct, would be cool, but i'm from Montreal, Canada...So Honda Challenge is minimum 6 hours drive from my house...i would like to run some event in the future but i dont think i would do an entire season...would cost to mush in transport hotel...for an entire season...

well, start looking for a deal!
what's your budget like? write down everything you think you'll need to build a car with prices and post it here. you'll be amazed how much stuff you forget or underestimate. I'm not trying to kill your dream or anything .. quite the opposite! you have a greater chance of racing next year if you buy a good car and spend the extra money on making it reliable and buying seat time.
have you been to tremblant? if not, go do a driving school there before the summer ends. 4/8 races are hosted there this year .. st-eustache won't prepare you enough for that track.
i think Trac has a K24 integra for sale too

I already have a civic 92 for track car...but i need to upgrade for a long term racecar to run in touring...dont worry about my budget, i've been working on it since last year and i know inside out what i need to do for my season..i'm not sure if i will run the entire season next year..but i will do at least 3 races and will start doing full season in 2008..
If i get a teg 94-01 i will swap a lot of stuff from my current car since it's in most case bolt-on.
As for the integra at Trac, the guy who selling it is asking 15k for it...and would need at least another 5k to run in the top 10 constant and some top5...

if you don't think it will cost over 30-40gs as a rookie to run top 5 you're disillusioned. I have a well built ex-grand am cup car and working hard for top 10s, this season with the car purshase i'm way over 30gs (w/ parts at cost, and borrowed truck/trailer).
anyways, to answer your question, a 94-01 integra is my first choice
if you have any other questions about the series, i'll be glad to help out.

Yup, i'd definetely build (or buy) a Prelude at 2500lbs. It would be more than competitive at equal weight. At a lighter weight it's almost a no-brainer. But thats just me...

As much as I love the Integra, I would have to agree. The Prelude is a great chassis. The only thing holding it back is weight, but if the min. weight is less than the competition then, well, problem solved.

Are you kidding me? A race prepped K24 teg is selling for $15k (canadian) and only needs about $5k (canadian) to be a top contender and you think that is expensive???? Even if that is US dollars, that's still a steal.

it's a k24a1 that has not been able complete one race or one lapping day since the rebuild...15k+5k will be to get some top 10 and be able to finish almost every race, will never had chance to get podium...I saw it in person, one of my friend test drove it, and one other was a mechanic for this car...so i know this car enought to know that i dont want it.
My decision is done for the car, i will get a Integra 94-01 shell. I already have the suspension and brake, seat... that i will switch from my current car
Build will start this winter and i will post the entire build-up with budget once i start..
