hey there quick tip if you havent done it already---- you can take your mechanical vss by using a long extension of combo of them with a deep well 10 mm socket with 3/8" ratchet. It is snug in the trans so give it a tug and then shake the vss till the piece falls out. To replace the broken cable -- you must pull off your gauge cluster bezel. Look beneath the dash around the steering wheel. There will be two phillips style screws. Close to the windshield there will be two more but with covers on them ( pop those off). Four more mounting the gauge cluster. remove that out of your way or move it to where you can reach the cable plug. Pull the broken cable from there. Wen you're ready to put the new on - you have to push it up to speedometer or just replace the entire cable w/housing through the firewall. I myself left the housing in and replaced only the broken cable. I am assuming you have the clip that holds the cable into the mechanical. If not that should still be on the speed sensor . Thats it the removal of broken cable is done. Put back together and go nuts. Ha ha Now if you have already done this you can tell your other buddies who have the same problem what to do and feel good about it and yourself.

check your local junk yards or goto the nearest honda dealer with the vin # and tell them that you want a speedometer cable for a mechanical one. The cable shouldnt cost no more than 15 dollars. If you have an electrical vss than you have to source out a vss. there is two pieces the top part bolted onto the piece that actually sits in your transmission.(HELD ON BY 2 10MM BOLTS) you can both pieces assembled cheaper or however you find them on ebay or at your local junk yard. give me by the end of the day (7/25/06) and ill let you know what cars.

A mechanical VSS from honda will run you at least 35. I've had them to break on me twice.

If you spent around $70 on 2 cables then its worth it to convert to electrical. Im not sure of the exact site but plenty of ppl here at HT do talk about cluster conversions that take an electrical vss. Im sure if you're a hard core honda guy or gal you'll find out what you need to do.
