rear disc brake help
hey, so i have a 96-00 civic with a gsr rear disc conversion. I hate to even post a thread about this but Im in the process of changing the pads and im trying to get the caliper back on over the new pads.. I know the piston is out too far and i know you have to rotate it back in to get more room. But it feels like the piston is stuck out and i can't spin it anymore. I was told that there might be a locking mechanism that will keep the piston from spinning.. Anyone know what im suppoed to do??? hellp i need to get to work tomorrow =/ thanks
It should continue to rotate. I just did this last week. If it is stuck you may be pinching the rubber boot, or the caliper is rusted. Try to rotate it back clock wise and then continue going counter clockwise. Ive never heard of any locking mechanism.
me netiher but the **** is rediculously hard to spin.. i had 3 people trying yesterday.. one holding the caliper and another trying to turn the vicegrips
make sure you keep the brake line open so it releases the pressure. Just run a line into a bottle that way you dont make a mess, but opening the line will free the pressure and you should be able to turn it easily.
