Default 91 accord LX with broke timing belt.

Ok I got a real nice 91 accord lx that broke the timing belt.I can get another 91 accord that has been wrecked but has a new engine. So imma swap engines.

Only thing is, the wrecked accord has the f22a4..and I think but not sure that the one with the timing belt broke is ff22a1 ??

If they are different engines...is it still a easy swap ?

Did the timing belt cause something to break....? Just because it broke, doesnt mean that the internals are automatically damaged.

Even when swapping motors it's still best to change belts/hoses, water pump, clutch (if app) cause it easier/cheaper.

F22A1, F22A4 and F22A6 are all pretty much the same engine. Swapping one for the other shouldn't be any harder than just swapping one for the same.

BUT, they are interference engines meaning the chance of **** breaking internally is WAY higher than a non-interference engine.

What speed was the vehicle travelling when the t-belt broke, or better yet, what engine speed [RPM]?

And no, the differences between the A1 and A4 will not effect anything. The real differences are between the A1/A4 and the A6 engines. The A6 has the dual runner I.M., "better" flowing exhaust manifold and cylinder head, relocated O2 sensor and IAB's which would need to be pinned on the ECU, if that were the engine you were using.

Awesome.Thanks for the quick replys.

Im not sure what gear or what rpm the car was at when it snapped cause I wasnt driving it.

I also have a honda prelude, and I broke a timing belt at 2500 in 2nd and bent 4 valves.

Im pretty sure there bent, and when I pull the head ill find out for sure, but I still have this accord parts car with a new engine in it just in case the valves are fucked.
