Default Remote Radar Detector Installed - Pics

I asked a question about what kind of bolts to use to help install my remote mount radar detector a week ago or so and you guys helped out. A couple wanted to see pics when it was done, here they are. Not the best pics, but you get the idea. It's the Escort Passport SR-7.

Here are some pics, the car is still dirty from the install, need to clean up some of the plastic shavings and stuff, oh well.

Sensors mounted in the bottom of the grill. Radar sensor on the driver side, front laser on the passenger side.

Rear laser sensor on top of license plate.

Now you see it.

Now you don't.

hmmm i know for sensors the lower you position them the less they can pick up.... but i wonder how much less... i mean a stealthed look would be worth a small sacrifice in receptiveness...

all and all good job.

Had the same setup in my old S2000, worked great. would get warnings at pretty much the same time at my friends V1. I would have liked to mount them on the middle row in the grill, but getting a drill in there was damn near impossible.

Readings are great, on par with a valentine one. get pleeeenty of notice. even thought he sensor is low, it's a much bigger sensor than found in typical windshield mounted detectors.

About 4 hours working very slowly. basically all you have to do is:
1- mount the front radar, and front laser sensor in the grill (8 holes to be drilled)
2- run the wires for those two sensors through the firewall (there's a plug behind the firewall that a big wire harness goes into, you can cut a small hole in the gromet for that and run the wires through that way),
3- plug those two sensors into the a control unit. They connect with a phone-jack type connector, makes it real easy. I mounted the control unit in the dead space on the floor behind the CD player
4- Hook up the power/ground for the control unit as describe above (the fuse addon block thing).
5- Mount the rear laser sensor. That just bolts on like a license plate frame. run the wire for that sensor to the front of the car. There's a gromet behind the rear bumper that has the wiring for the license plate lights that you can send that wire through.
6- Drill hole in the bottom of the console to run the wire for the display to the control unit.

Ta-da. Done.

forgot to mention when hooking up the power, if you remove the plastic panel that covers the hood release handle, and look up towards the top (near where the drivers left knee would be when sitting in the drivers seat) there is a bolt going into the frame with a lot of black wires going into it, these are all grounds, you can loosen that bolt up and put the ground there.

It's the Escort Passport SR7. Retails for about $1000, but can be had for 600ish on ebay.
