Tranny swap?
I've seen pictures/videos of K20 Fits, and it's what I want to do to my Fit when I get it. So my question is, would it be better to stay with the stock tranny or is there a better tranny out there with taller gears? Let me know if anyone has done some research on this.
You can not utilize the stock fit transmission along with a k series motor.
We're all n00bs at somepoint

Oh, sorry. I am kinda new to the import scene, or any car scene for that matter, but I thought the k20 flopped right in but I guess I'm wrong. So what kind of tranny goes with it? The stock one that comes in something like the RSX?

There aren't many if any USDM fits with a K20 swap, I belive most of them are shop owned and from Japan.
The K20 doesn't just drop in, or a lot more cars would have them even right now. It seems to be a fairly complex swap.
Anyways, you can get a K20 or K24. The RSX-S, new Civic Si, and Acura TSX are the best choices for a K series, because the others don't have the 3rd set of cam lobes that make those engines performance models, that and higher compression, etc.
You can get a 5 speed or 6 speed transmission. I'd choose the new 6 speed from the new Si because it comes with a limited slip differential, which would be very useful on such a light car as the fit (2400 lbs). Otherwise, many aftermarket companies such as Quaife offer LSDs you can put in yourself. But 6 speed is good.

I don't know of any K20 swap Fits here in Japan except for Mugen's which I think they already scrapped/crushed...please show me an example if you know of any.

That's one, I believe gotten through special connections in Japan. Mugen Dynamite is the only other one I know of. I thought Spoon was working on one as well after they exhausted the stock engine.
Those are the only ones I know of and are both connected to Japan and not US.

I think they did that one up locally (in the US). Over here in Japan no one really bothers with the Fit performance wise. I have never seen personally (or even in the magazines) of a Fit with a K here in Japan. Cool to see that the Fit is getting much love in the US

If you look it's definitely a RHD car, with the JDM tails. It may not be a Japanese company per se but they got the car before the general US release date which means they had a container hookup to do the swap in.
Most people buying the Fit here don't really care about that right now, they're enjoying the fuel economy.
