Default [FAQ] Purchasing blocks only?

so i was thinking, why spend 3-4 grand on a motor when your gonna throw everything out of it and put high quality parts in it.

So i'm wondering if anyone has bought just a block and built their motor from there on out.

Have you ever thought about purchasing the block assembly and selling what you do not need out of it?

You could sell the Crankshaft, Oil Pump, Water Pump, Connecting Rods, Pistons, Piston Rings, Connecting Rod Bearings, Mainshaft Bearings, Thrust Washers, Oil Squirters, Oil Squirter Bolts, Engine Mount Bracket, Oil Pan, Oil Pan Gasket, Oil Pickup, Oil Pan Baffle Cover.

That's off the top of my head though. May be a little more stuff you could sell and get your money back.

well yeah, but who wants stock parts? besides people who've fcked up their engine because their stupid enough to do that in the first place.

but then again, there are alot of those kind of people out there, heh i guess buying the engine would be a safe way to go and selling the parts knowing that the engine works, but knowing how to rebuild an motor it should run from building it up from scratch..and with only the block i can make mearurements, like taper, out of round and all that bullshit, and if their specs are off i can bore and hone it down so they are within spec, but iono, with the complete motor i can do that too, and it would take a lil more dis-assembling but i guess both ways work.

might save a lil more money buying just the block though

LoL. Are you kidding me? I sell stock parts for a living and there is a demand for it. Especially if you sell the parts off at cheaper than dealer pricing.
