Default 91 SI hatch frying coils??

Anyone ever have this problem? It's the stock d16a6 and this will be it's 3rd coil in a year. The first one lasted a good 3k miles and this last one gave up the ghost at maybe 350 miles. The car only has 91k miles on it.

I'd love to be able to fix whatever is causing the coil frying as opposed to taking it to Honda and paying for them to do diagnostic work. Any help or ideas on what may be causing this would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen bad plugs and wires fry coils in a matter of miles. And in some cases, the ignitor and coil will take turns offing each other until you replace both at the same time. Try replacing the spark plugs and wires, and/or swapping in a known good ignitor and see how it behaves.

Will do, that was on my list of things to try also, this is my 8th EF and I've never had any problems like this, even with ones with 167k on em

I would replace the rotor, and cap it more likely that the distance between the point is to far and causing the coil to arch. my coil burnt up and it fried the caps coil spring and had to replace them both.

I replaced the cap and rotor last go around so we'll see...

The dealership said it was my cap that caused it last time, It was completely fried so maybe I've found the cause but I just want to be sure. BTW-it was a cap and rotor from a sponsor that said it was Honda og parts just unmarked, food for thought I suppose.
