how far up in the cylinder is it? Because at the top of the cylinder you might have a ridge worn in, use something soft and give it a good whack!

if its what he said (ridge at top of cylinder), they make a tool to remove it, a ridge reamer or somethin. tryin to pound the piston through it will damage something probably

You most likely have a ridge of carbon around the upper 1/4" of the cylinder. Careful use of a razor blade to scrape the carbon off should allow the pistons to pop right out. I just put S pistons in my H22 today, and at 113,000 miles there is no noticeable ridge in the cylinder liner.

wow, you guys must be running really rich to have a carbon built up on the top of the cylinders so much that the pistons wont slide out?? I would say there might be a ridge that the piston rings have worn on the bores if your motor has a really high milage

Car is 100% stock. Try burning 3 quarts of oil every 3500-4000 miles and see how much carbon that builds.
