Default help:what are the reasons of low efficiency of catalytic converter? Thanks

my vehicle is 99' honda accord lx, and the engine check light was on due to the low efficiency of catalytic converter, so what could cause that? is it expensive to fix it? Thanks!

LOL = Laughing Out Loud.

Your catalytic converter is bad. It's a few hundred dollars to replace, or literally twice as much or more if you go to the dealership. The link that hondadude provided is like a cheat... It fools the computer into thinking the cat is fine, and the CEL will not come on.
