Default groaning/clunking front brakes

I noticed recently that when I'm braking kinda hard, but not too hard, and am almost at a complete stop, the front (at least I think only the fronts are doing it) make this groaning sort of soft clunking weird noise. Imagine as if you were standing on a hill, had the handbrake up, and then very slowly let it down. When the rear brakes are just about to lose grip and the car is slowing starting to roll, it kind of makes that groaning noise and that's what the front sounds like in my car.

I don't know the condition of the pads or rotors, and also one big thing... I've been driving around for about 2 months with my brakes needing to be bled some more (they brake fine, but the pedal goes down further and isn't quite as firm as it should be)... I don't think that'd do anything but I'm not sure so, anybody know for sure if that did anything bad?

Cliffs: front brakes make weird groaning noise

TIA

Look under your rims and see if there is any meat left on your pads. Pretty simple.

When there is low pad left, aren't they supposed to squeak when you brake? Not make a groaning noise when you're about to stop? Also, this doesn't happen every time I stop, just sometimes.

when the pads are worn to the shims, it squeaks when you DON'T brake

Yea well point is, I would've figured out that it was the brake pads long before I wore them down that much, because I would've heard the squeaking when braking. That's not really answering my question.

Anybody else have any suggestions about why it would groan like that?
