A friend and I drove up to KC for their 2-day event. I met 3 other Honda-tech members with ITR's: Budman, Batoutahell and Big Dog. There was a 4th ITR guy there on Saturday but I didn't ask if he was on HT.

Jeff, Jim and myself were in the first heat. I set the time of day on my second to last run, and then Jim proceeded to beat it by an entire half-second with his very nice JRSC'd R. (bastard!) He took me for a ride later, and I likey. Haha! Jim's FTD stood for a couple heats I think until some turbo MR2's put the beats down on us. Those are great AutoX cars!

Also, a point of interest, all 3 of the other ITR guys I met on Sunday had Falken Azenis and had varying comments about them, but mostly still getting used to them I think. I am hoping to get some soon, but I was still on my original RE010's that were on the car when I bought it from BlackDragon last month.

Anyway, it was a great time, and I wasn't even expecting to see other R's, let alone 4, of which people I'd seen posting on HT! It was nice to meet you guys!




Bob's car was not in the same heat, and I wish I'd gotten some pics, it looks good with the new Comptech/Koni suspension and the black-painted Mazda Millenia wheels for autox'ing!

Hey Ben, nice pics. It was real nice to meet you at the autoX. This was only my 2nd autoX in like a year and a half (I'm more into road racing), so it was a nice surprise to see you and all the other R's out there.

Damn those mr2's. I think the fastest one beat me by like 1.5 seconds, which is quite a bit for that course.

Drop us a line if you're back in the KC area, and we'll do the same. Maybe we can all meet up at Hallet for a track day later this summer.

 

Someone mentioned a 2-day event at Heartland Park Topeka in July? You (or anyone) have any info on that? Maybe we could start up a mid-west Honda meet for that event or something?

Anyone interested in that?

 

UncleBen - Thanks for being so kind as to not post how many f^$&#&#$ times I had DNF's out of the 5 runs

Let's just say, "more than 1", or "more than 2" anyway, at least the last run was decent until I slammed my left foot on the brake instead of the clutch & ran into the timing light

I needed some after that. I promise next time to stay on course & give you some better competition! Maybe I'll even be "Employed BudMan" by then

Any of you guys planning on going to the midwest divisional event this weekend in Salina? I see Bob's name on the list for stx, are there any others. And if you dont mind me asking, what mods does bob have done?

 

typerlover, Not many mods, Icebox - koni yellow - comptech springs and of course Falkens. Glad you'll be in Salina. Pro Solo in Topeka was great. Be sure to do that if they come back next year.

 

was it neither of you that was telling me about the track days in July at HPT?

maybe it was the guy running the KCRSCCA event....

 

I've been to 4 of the HPCCC events....I don't see a date for the next one at Heartland Park...

Note: there is usually a good size contingent of R's there ~4-6.

Ben - your re010's are no where near finished......I'm so cheap - ask Jim... the last 2 sets I've started with have been in worse shape & I used them for track days!

I dunno, they're looking pretty bad, though they still seem to be gripping pretty well. I just don't want to roast them down to the steal on the track this weekend. I'll save them though and take pics, and you can decide if you want them or not

Now that I put the P700Z's back on - I'm sliding ALL OVER THE STREET even when I'm not trying to drive hard! I've squealed tires several times just trying to take-off slow in traffic me likey Azenis!!
