Yeah I guess you can say this is one of those topics that's an opinion on an engine..but this one isn't an really an opinion :-\
Alright, whether you like it or not, if you hate domestics, love importants, vice versa, whatever, sold in the USA (not neccessarily made, but SOLD in the USA), dollar for dollar, the chevrolet corvette is the best car dollar for dollar that's SOLD in the USA, maybe not the fastest, maybe not the best in handling, definately not the cheapest, but dollar for dollar per-se the corvette's been the best car for getting what you pay for, everybody that has car knowledge knows that, it's a fact that any economical auto institute knows, it's not opinion...okay, with that said and done..
What would the honda/acura engine of that level be? Is it still all opinion? Or is there one engine that dollar for dollar you get the most out of what you pay for it, like the corvette of engines...not taking the speed into account...just is there one engine (that you get the most out of what you p ay for it) (disregard D series engines)
Or is that only possible to rate like that w/ cars because you can buy them new oppose to a lot of engines which u can't buy new and you can't control the selling price..

i agree with the corvette is the best car STOCK dollar for dollar.but the srt4 is a close one and as well as the gto. but u can beat all of these stock cars with less money if u mod a honda civic or any car for that matter but corvette is only good bang for the buck stock. if u want u could buy a 2kdollar honda civic and throw about 10k-15kinto the civic and i can guarentee you that the civic will be just as good in every aspect and way if not way better than the corvette. but the corvette is rear wheel drive so the corvete has an advantage on the straight.

Oh, I'm sorry, maybe I mis-explained
First of all:
I'm ot trying to talk about how great the corvette is or isn't, this is a fact that just about every institute that studies how much cars cost versus what you get knows and agrees upon, it's definately not a practical car for a stay at home mom with a family of 5, it's definately NOT practical for a lot of situations, but dollar for dollar it still remains the best in what you get for your money...if you can't understand what I mean and how this is a fact, not opinion, then I jsut stop talking now and you don't believe it because it was rather hard for me to understand...all I can try to say is it's nto the fastest, it doesn't handle the best, etc. but dollar for dollar you get the most out of what you pay for when you buy a corvette, which leads to my 2nd point.
Second fo all:
I'm talking about COMPLETELY stock, right out of the factory, no modifications what-so-ever, of course u can soup up a honda and make it faster than a corvette for less than you paid for the corvette, that's what's so great about hondas, but that's not what I"m getting at at all, I'm not getting at any form of the speeds, just what I referred to in my first point.
Which reverts me back to my original post...
Dollar for dollar, what's the best honda/acura engine (excluding the D series) in which you get the most out of what you pay for...

Wow, if you completely missed the point then I hate to say it, and as much as I don't want to say it... "reading ownz you..."
EDIT:
Ya, I was thinking the H22 as well, anybody have any other suggestions as to what motor as a crate (stock) brand new has the best bang for ur buck....
PS: buy mounts??? I thought u had to custom fab mounts for the H22 swap?

I like that "i didn't miss the point but there is no point in this"
Oxymoron if I've ever seen one
but yeah, maybe I should have made it a poll...but I'm sure I would have left off suggestions that pple would have and pple have a bad habbit of going with the winner to "go w/ the flow" kinda deal instead of coming up with their own...

yea that's what i meant when i said buy mounts, i meant excluding all parts to make the conversion, I believe most of the swaps comes with factory mounts, but yea I meant the custom mounts and accessories.

h22 is the best bang for buck by far.
in completely stock form it has great potential.
now its getting more aftermarket suport as it becomes more popular.
about 1.8k-2.2k for a swap (tranny, ECU, axles).
about 800 in extras (mounts and linkage)
h22 mounts - http://www.hasport.com
h22 swap - http://www.hmotorsonline.com

i agree with the corvette statement.
However, I still strongly feel that if my d16b5 project would have worked out like I expected that I could have gotten 160whp out if it with a 95 dollar cam regrind, complete y8 intake manifold and tuning. 375 spent on the engine, 95 for the cam, 150 for a complete d16y8 intake manifold.
don't forget the tune though! mine fucked up while being tuned

i love d series and I completely agree with you bense, d series easily has the best bang for your buck. but...

other than that, h22 + turbo or f22 + turbo (same difference
)

syndacate i wasnt trying to be a dick i was trying to help dont get offended if ur looking for advice, and then try and disrespect someone else. thats not how u get advice plus not to mention the the whole corvette deal was point less. u could have just said what is the best bang for buck honda engine out there that will fit in my car. but my oppinion i would say the d's but not considering themb18b with a b20z head. not expensive at all and a very smoothing reving combination with nice power for the money. just my oppinion. now dont get mad and tell me off (its an oppinion).
My vote goes for D-series. D-series and B-series, without a doubt, have the most aftermarket parts and stock availability. However, for much cheaper, a D-series complete swap can be had. Not to mention, there's plenty more combinations to suit personal needs. For example, how many different D-series trannys are available, and how man H-series? There are more possibilities with gear lenghts and whatnot to fit your personal build...
So, there really isn't much more than that to compare to. The best stock D-series I'd say is the Z6, because the comparable Y8 supposedly has bad oil pumps at high RPM's. The difference is that Hondas are highly modified when it comes to performance, while your Corvettes are stock. It's all in the builder's preference.
End pointless thread.

I see people's points in the D series but the only D series I'm considering seriously is the SOHC D16Z6/Turbo on 25lbs...so I'm trying to get advice on other solutions besides that...
Right now as this isn't the only place I've been searching for an answer on this it seems the two setups where u get the most bang for ur buck is the FI D16Z6/Turbo and the H22/H2B...I was obviously thinking of the ITR but I keep hearing it's more of a name than what it makes power wise :-\ .... not that it doesn't have potential, but it sure as hell isn't the best bang for buck per-se

I say H22 if you are talking completely stock. Just keep in mind that the job of getting it in your car is going to be much more than putting in a B. In the end it comes down to more than just the engine its self. You need to look at the whole job. With that said go with the B16.
