Tire Pressure
So this guy that races was telling me going with the recomended tire pressure isn't smart because of how hard we ride our bikes. He was telling me i should set my front at 31 and back at 36 instead of 35 and 40. Because the tires expand i was just wondering if this is correct or not thanks.
Tires are designed to run at a specific pressure when hot. If you're running harder and your pressures are going over what they should run hot then obviously you need to start lower. That's not to say everyone should go out an let 4 psi out of their tires because everyone is different. It's your job as the rider to determine how your riding impacts tires pressure.
31 at the front and 36 in the back? WTF kind of racer disseminates that info? 31/36 is a bad idea. Either do mid-30s for street-riding, and increase/decrease as needed, or low-30s for track (again, +/- as needed).
marmalade why are you saying this is bad i dont understand. I thought it was good because i live in georgia and its really hot and the tires will expand? I just want to know where they should be. When i chekd i was front 36 and rear 42 cold thats why i almost slid out 2 times.

Yes that's the reason.
Set them to what the manufacture says. You shouldn't be riding hard enough to raise the pressure that significantly. If the streets in the dirty south really are that bad, then find out for yourself. Check the pressures cold and then hot (immediately after a ride) and see what the change is and judge for yourself. Sounds like a no brainer.

Without having been there and seeing what you were doing and how you were doing it, I can't say that tire pressures would be the only culprit in you almost sliding out. As MrH stated, your tire pressure should be checked when cold and later when the tires are hot.
