Default Question about CAI

I'm looking @ getting the AEM CAI but i've got a couple of concerns.

1. Location of CAI? Does anyone have one that could take a picture to show me where it relocates the filter? would be greatly appreciated...

2. Warranty? does the AEM void a warranty??

3. I drive the car in the winter in all types of weather and I wanted to make sure that driving in snow that sometimes hits the bottom of the car is that going to affect the CAI (of course this depends on where it's located)

any info would help greatly, i'm going to be purchasing my intake next week and can't wait but i don't know what to do...I really wanted to go CAI but not sure if I maybe should go Short Ram...

Pics or links to pics that would show the location of the the CAI filter would be great...

1. No picture, but I heard the AEM CAI filter was located behind the bumper on driver side.

2. No, it should not. Dealers may tell you otherwise so you do not put it on.

3. I would think so. There is no bypass vavle for it. But maybe someone else has more experience with the snow.

showstoppersusa.com has the best pricing with shipping included. Will get within 2-5 days. Check out the other threads about CAI. There are alot and you will probably find all your answers there.

it will NOT void ur warranty. i have asked a few different dealerships to verify and all of them say that an intake will not void the warranty. it will void ur warranty if u suck up water/snow/mud etc through the filter. there is no bypass valve for it that i have seen, but there is a cover for the filter made my injen i think? do some research on it and find out. i dont know where it relocates the filter though cuz i have yet to received my injen intake. i cant wait for it though! good luck with the install. i have also heard some stories of rough installs and the piping rubbing the frame. search this forum and you'll find more answers

K&N makes what called a DryCharger, which is a sleeve that gos over the actual filter to keep water off of it.

I love AEM myself and yes ive heard alot of stories about the tubing hitting the frame with AEM n INJEN. I really hope they fix that issue because it's retarted. I should not have to cut any plastic from the frame to install it totally gay.

i just ordered mine (AEM CAI) from TwinCam and should be here Tuesday and installed by this week. 1 question, is the new AEM CAI a 2piece where you can convert to short or cold air?

That's cool, thanks for the info guys...i don't imagine to many ppl have had experience with winter yet, as these parts have just started coming out in the spring so i may have to go trial and error on that one.

Red_EM2, wouldn't that cover rob the airflow getting into the filter? i don't know much about this ****...

If it's up under the bumper then that may be alright, i just thought i seen a picture somewhere that it was fully visible from the bottom of the car, and the way it looked, it was like anything would be able to hit it (water, snow, etc...)

thanks again for the info

anyone with pics of the placement of the AEM or Injen as i'm still on the fence as to what one to get, that would be a great help...

thanks tallwin, that's pretty much what i wanted to hear (the placement of the filter) if it's surrounded by frame and is 6" or more off the ground then i'm good to go...if i drive through more than 6" of water i'll need a boat not a car and if the snow is that high then i'm not going to work anyway LOL....

thanks for the info.

I have the injen intake, the filter is in the same place as the AEM CAI. I did the install myself with assistance from my mechanic friend. No issues with the piping hitting anything. Even when the engine is running. I did not get the filter cover, but I am thinking about it.

I am interested in the Injen however I don't see it available for the LX so i'm gonna stick with the AEM...

that's the disadvantage of taking the LX i guess

Sorry, not sure if they one either. There is probably alot of short ram intakes out there though.

I had the same issue with my old LX coupe. I am not one for trying to make something fit. That is why I sold it when I knew this Si remodel was coming out. Beats the 02 to 05 models.
