Drivers side front Brake Sticking. wried problem
About 2 months ago i installed new brembo rotors and pbr pads (i also have ss brakelines). They worked great up tell today
Heres what happend:
About 10mins into my drive to work today every thing was fine (brakes were working great). Come to a red light, light turns green and now my brakes seem to be sticking pretty bad (wried) but still easy to drive. (almost like lightly pushing on the brake).
I was about 4mins away from work so i drove there since it was close and i didnt want to be late (2 red lights on the way and still sticking pretty bad). When i got to work i noticed the drivers side front was smoking really bad from it sticking this whole time. My guess was the caliper was seizing/seized. Well after work i tried driving and to my amazement it is fine. drove all the way home without a problem.
What would couse this... and should i replace the front drivers side caliper just to be safe? i might just take the caliper off and check it out to see if any of the pins are stuck but i know i cleaned and lubed them with high temp gresse 2 months ago....
anyone? why was it sticking all if a sudden and now its fine

did you put the little rubber boot all the way back on? you probably don't need to replace it just pull it off and lube it. but you should be able to see if thats the problem if you look at it.
ok, i removed everything and checked it out.
The pins were still well lubed and slide in and out no problem (i relubed them also when i reinstalled)
The pads have prefect wear on both sides
When checking out the caliper i noticed the rubber boot were the piston moves in and out is ripped. my guess this is my problem as dirt and what not probably got in there and now is cousing problems. I guess ill have to change the caliper since im pretty sure this is my problem

Before you do that, compress the piston and see if it will move in. If it does not, loosen the bleeder screw and if it goes in, it is the line, if not, it is the caliper.

just thought ill'd update this post for anyone reading.
I fixed the problem long ago by just replacing both calipers. i probably only needed to change the one but i thought why not change both if im going to bleed the brakes anyways. plus i got a wicked deal on them.
