h23 tranny on f22... help
i hate my automatic tranny... im plannin to go manual whenever i find a good price but before that i need some information. i read a FAQ's on h22's & i have some questions.
when going f22 to h23 tranny:
"While your acceleration will imporove substantially, your top end will suffer greatly. The f22 doesn't have the same kind of headroom as the h22. You'll run about 1.5k from redline at highway speeds. So if you travel long distances, a tranny swap alone isn't such a good idea."
could anybody xplain that a little bit more. thanx!
should i do it? since there are drawbacks...

let me be the first to say
your post makes no sense and ill explain why, observe:
1) all f/h trannies are interchangeable on all f/h motors
2) all f/h trannies do not share the same gearing between each other
3) the h23 has the same gearing as a 5 speed f22 with exception of fd possably
4) go back to the person that told you that and ask him if he has any dehydrated water or a cold fusion reactor

What cryogen was refering to, is the fact that at 80mph, you will be running at close to 4k rpms (or 4400rpms for an h22a tranny), which i guess in his opinion is too high for long trips on open highways. Thats why he recommended against it if you make long drives at high speeds.
More revs = more wear on motor, so you would be stressing the motor more on long trips compared to using the f22 tranny (80 at what, 3000rpms?).
I am considering a h23a swap as my 5th gear syncho is now shot, =|. But then again I'm not a speed freak so I dont mind driving at only 70mph w/ the h23 tranny and keep the rpms closer to crusing rpms of the f22 tranny.

Bwahahahahahahahahaaahahahhahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!

lets look here for a minute
final drive 4.06:1 (man) 4.27:1 (man)
I 3.31 3.31
II 1.81 1.86
III 1.23 1.32
IV 0.90 1.03
V 0.71 0.81
