Default A/C problem

I've got an '89 Accord and my air condition just quit working. It was working fine when I went to work but when I left to go home the light on the switch wouldn't come on to turn on the A/C and neither would the light on the "REC" button. All it does is blow hot air. I've checked fuses and couldn't find anything. I've been told that if the bulb inside is blown it may not work but I would like to hear more opinions before I go taking the dash apart. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Check the fuse in the underdash panel that is called 'rear window defroster', if it is blown the compressor clutch has gone bad.
