Default US MotoGP Practice and Qualifying Talk *POST NO RACE SPOILERS IN HERE*

First Practice times, riders are complaining about a VERY bumpy new surface

1 Kenny Roberts Jnr. Team Roberts KR211V 1:23.951
2 Colin Edwards Camel Yamaha Team Yamaha YZR-M1 1:24.310
3 Casey Stoner Honda LCR Honda RC211V 1:24.360
4 John Hopkins Rizla Suzuki MotoGP Suzuki GSV-R 1:24.608
5 Valentino Rossi Camel Yamaha Team Yamaha YZR-M1 1:24.674
6 Marco Melandri Fortuna Honda Honda RC211V 1:24.698
7 Chris Vermeulen Rizla Suzuki MotoGP Suzuki GSV-R 1:24.739
8 Nicky Hayden Repsol Honda Team Honda RC211V 1:24.943
9 Carlos Checa Tech 3 Yamaha Yamaha YZR-M1 1:25.100
10 Sete Gibernau Ducati Marlboro Team Ducati Desmosedici GP-6 1:25.100
11 Dani Pedrosa Repsol Honda Team Honda RC211V 1:25.311
12 Loris Capirossi Ducati Marlboro Team Ducati Desmosedici GP-6 1:25.614
13 Shinya Nakano Kawasaki Racing Team Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR 1:25.659
14 Alex Hofmann Team D'Antin Pramac Ducati Desmosedici GP-6 1:25.977
15 Toni Elias Fortuna Honda Honda RC211V 1:26.599
16 Makoto Tamada Konica Minolta Honda Honda RC211V 1:26.658
17 Randy De Puniet Kawasaki Racing Team Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR 1:26.913
18 James Ellison Tech 3 Yamaha Yamaha YZR-M1 1:26.984
19 Jose Luis Cardoso Team D'Antin Pramac Ducati Desmosedici GP-6 1:27.531

The track has been slightly altered since last year so local knowledge leading up to the corkscrew is now eliminated. Nicky is not off to the same rocketing start as last year, but there are other American hopefulls up front..... and that pesky Italian

Wow...Junior's almost half a second faster than CEii?? Amazing.

Hope the success continues through the weekend.

Schu, if that happens, your helmet collection might double in value.

It's making it's debut public showing, they are still a year or two off from trying to race it

KRJR's been at the front for quite a bit of the season, their new chassis design has been working really really well. Even netted himself a podium this year!

LoL

Sucks about KTM pulling out last year, but it's great that KR Proton's fortunes seem to have turned around. Now if only they could give Kurtis a ride too...again...

idk why everyone is so surprised that Kenny is up there, he's been duking it out in the to 5-8 every race this year. he is a super talented rider, and is finally back on a bike with some ponies.

Maybe cuz he's riding against VR, Hayden, Melandri, Pedrosa, and CE?

And KR won the championship in 2000, Rossi WAS riding back then. Melandri crashed pretty hard at Laguna last year, Pedrosa is a rookie.

My point is, if he has been progressively doing better this season, then when he comes to his "home track" it shouldn't surprise you that he is putting down good lap times.

I don't know about the rest of you but I was very pi$$ed and disappointed by the GP coverage last year at Laguna. I can't stand Greg White and all they did was focus on Hayden's dad. I just hope the coverage is better this year but I am not holding my breath.

Let's hope Junior can still hold race pace throughout as it seems like him and Hopkins can qualify, but poor tire selection and/or chassis set-up has provided dismal finishing positions by the end. I'd love to see a Red, White & Blue podium.

And since then.. Rossi's won every championship. And KR wasn't even close.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by GermanHondaSlayer &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Melandri crashed pretty hard at Laguna last year,</TD></TR></TABLE>
Doesn't mean it'll slow him down because he's been very very quick this year. He's also 68 points ahead of KR.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by GermanHondaSlayer &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Pedrosa is a rookie.</TD></TR></TABLE> Get that, "he's a rookie" crap outta here. He's 74 points ahead of KR. He's also my pick for future champ.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by GermanHondaSlayer &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">My point is, if he has been progressively doing better this season, then when he comes to his "home track" it shouldn't surprise you that he is putting down good lap times.</TD></TR></TABLE>

It still surprises me because it's also the home track for Nicky as well as Hopkins and Colin. Plus Rossi came in 3rd last year and it was his 1st time ever riding Laguna Seca. KR just isn't the same caliber as the lead pack just yet. We'll have to see if he can hang on to 1st through all 32 laps.

And to throw in Dani Pedrosa and Casey Stoner in the mix.. and well as how well Capirossi is doing.. boy is it gonna be an exciting race.
