Ok so I just had a d16z6 put in my hatchback.
the problems.....
1. Slight hesatation on take off.
2. When I am driving it, at any given time, the motor will bogg down and sound like it is flooding and then all of a sudden it will backfire slightley and then jerk hard and like catch itself back up to speed.
3. the number 1 spark plug boot is being pushed out of the valve cover, not all the way but just slightley pushed up. but not the plug itself.
4. one or two of the spark plugs are getting messed up, what is happening is the metal part is being pushed or somewhat folding toward the metal part that sticks up out of the middle of the plug.

No check engine light?

What i thought it was ~ when i swaped the motor the car had old crappy gas in it, i thought all the hesatation and back fireing was comeing from the old gas burning, but when a new tank was put in it seemed to stop, the car runs the best before it warms up real good. the longer it is driven the worse it gets.

No smoke or bad smelling exhaust or anything that woudl be a normal problem....

also the car is running on a po6 not a p28, it had a p28 on it, but it ran even worse and was not wired for vtec.and it had a check engine light,


Any advice for what woudl be causeing all of this?

sounds like ignition and valve timing are both off by a couple ticks

check 'em with a timing light

 

whould that cause that weird spark plug problem, that is what i am most worried about
