Just got a new car and the previous owner was a smoker. The smell isn't very strong, but there's ashes ALL over the carpet. Below these ashes is near mint carpet.

I took it out, I'd like to maybe steam clean it? Is there anyway to clean it all the way down through the jute padding?

How do you facilitate a steam cleaning though?

Do you have to use one of those big machines?

 

take it to a self car wash!

 

You can rent steam cleaners from a lot of places...Meijer, Ace Hardware, Home Depot, even some U-Hauls. Check grocery and hardware stores in your area.

 

Clean and black fabric paint if your carpet is black of course
