I have a question for ITR owners with JDM HID front end. I recently had a headlight burn out on my HIDs. How long should the HID bulbs last? I hope the ballast did not go bad.

Is there an USDM OEM bulb that will fit? If so, what year model Honda/Acura does it come from? (I assume a CL/TL would work).

no idea. i've never had a burnout. do what mike says and pull the bulb and find the number printed on the housing.

i was also told it was the same as the tl/cl but i didn't feel like pulling it apart to find out...

I don't feel like pulling the assembly apart either.

I know RBoosted717 will know what kind of bulb it is. He has 5,000 sets of HID bulbs.

No worries guys...

I went outside and determined it is a blown fuse. When I noticed it this morning at 5AM on my way to work I could not check the fuses (it was kind of dark ).

I hope I can determine the cause of the blown fuse. Oh well, if I can't I'll just shove a paper clip or something in there [sarcasm]

The draw from the HID ballast can sometimes pop the 10 amp fuse. On some aftermarket hids they advise to use a 15 amp fuse.

BTW, the bulb should be a philips bulb D2S(I think the only Honda would be S2000) for projectors and can be gotten from anyplace that sells aftermarket hids, which would be cheaper than the dealership for a philips bulb.

 

The headlight bulbs are 9006. If you have HID's use D2S bulbs. They should last a very long time.
