best power out of a dpfi. dirt cheap engine swap.
my motor is burning alot of oil so i want to throw another d block into my 90 lx. its gonna be a daily beater so im not going to switch over the f.i. that being said, what non vtec d motor will give me more than the 90 hp i have now as far as a drop in longblock. i know there are a few variations in d motors. just dont know which specifically i need for this. i also know it wont be a big jump in power, but a little will be fine.
D16A6 or SOHC ZC is a good route since its all OBD-0 and is 1.6L
If you can find a D16Y7 long block BUY IT, it will probably have low miles, same size combustion chambers as D16Y8 VTEC & better head flow than any other stock D-series non-VTEC engine.
The one drawback is aftermarket for the Y7 (virtually no cams, just regrinds) but it can handle 6-8 lbs of boost untuned and ~14 psi on stock internals daily w/chipped ECU & dyno time.

i would say jus throw on some bolt ons to the dx motor...D15b2...IHE...not sure if the D16a6 would run with dpfi but if it does n good then get that.
well thats another idea. but im just looking for the best drop in for this application. i just want it to run good without changing **** around. reliability is #1 in this instance. i want more power but at no expense other than a bit more gas. this one is never going to be a hotrod. ill have to buy a gutted hatch for that....
the y7 sounds good but is there anything ignition related that will have to be modified to run in this? i know intake/exhaust will go right on but.....
