Please take the time to do a search, as we've had many of these threads floating around. It gets tiring repeating the same information over and over again. There are too many variables into the answer you're seeking. To be honest, I'd recommend taking the MSF course as the first step and see how comfortable you are as far as getting your feet wet before furthering your search for a "first bike". I started out on an R6, fyi.
depends on how you mature you are, but generally speaking none of those are really good beginner bikes.
My vote, for something sporty and good looking, is the SV650. Nothing like a vtwin.

A frend at work just started out a couple months ago on a 250cc ninja. It looks alright and it was only 2500 for a 2005 with 200 miles. It's cheap, not too fast but still quick, gets awesome gasmilage.

i'm all for the cheapest, reliableest bike you can stomach. i know when i drop my super cheap starter bike it won't hurt my pocketbook nearly as much as dropping the brand new 06 zx6r i wish i had.
as far as what's "safe" it all depends on whether you have self control or not...
and read the sticky and get good gear!!!
sincerely,
a fellow noob

Hey GC75,000000qns... think about adjusting those controls.

If you dont care about killing yourself, pick any of those bikes and it will be fine.
If you want to stick around earth for another year or so, pick
Honda CBR F2 or F3
Suzuki Katana
Suzuki SV 650
Suzuki SV 650S
Kawasaki Ninja 250
Kawi Ninja 500
+1 on "not another one"

I started on a 03 gsxr600 this year and I think as long as you respect the bike and aren't an idiot on it, you will be fine. I also rode dirt bikes for awhile though so I knew how to ride decently.

it literally means, unlock your elbows. Your arms are completely straight in the pic of you on the CBR. If you're going to ride a bike you want to keep your arms slightly bent so you're not feeding unwanted input into the bars.

You could also try a Zx-14 too. Pretty good beginner bike.
