Really cheap type-r FOR SALE!
hell yaa, even for a theft recovery its a good price. Who cares if its a theft recovery, unless you have 14-16k to buy another one which might also be salvaged/theft recovery, your not going to find a deal like this again.
i already talked to this guy, he said that the title was with some company in florida or somthing, and that you have to figure it out on your own.
it sounded like a good deal to me too, but what if you buy the car, and find out that the title is 'parts only'? you cant return it...bummer
oh well, my search continues...

theft recovery would be ok considering that price but whenever I see Florida, I see Floodrida. So be sure that you check the carfax and the title to make sure it isn't flood damaged. Additionally, you should check out the chassis to make sure there isn't any major structural repairs. Theft recovery is best because the chassis is spared and all you need to do is replace whatever is lost. In this case, it appears that everything was restored.

So, when I totalled my itr I was able to part it out and make about that much. $9500 is still a good price even though the title isn't clean.

Considering my brother paid 17k for a 01 R with 8k miles on it THATS A HELLA DEAL. It was stolen, but found in less then 20 minutes thanks to LoJack. Only thing missing was the shift ****, but I got the dealer to dish out the $300+ it took to get a OEM one.
Someone buy it, before I go 10k more in debt.

daniel is a cool guy thats selling it,
if i had the money i would pick it up, sell all of the body panels except trunk/doors and interior. then cage it up, put a cwest kit on it, sell the swap and build a motor for it, make it a track *****,
it has a florida certificate of descruction so i dont know if it can be registerd anywhere ever, thats why theres a guy selling a complete clean 02 dc5 type s for 7k becaus he bought it with a florida certificate of destruction

If it is in the condition advertised, that's an excellent deal. The only thing, especially with craigs list, DON'T send money electronically. Go out to Portland to meet the guy, inspect the car and then pay with cash or check. Be very thorough with your inspection, look for frame damage, scrapes on the underbody, check for frame repairs, etc.
Looks like a steal to me. Check your state laws about transferring theft recovery titles. I know in MD, out of state theft/salvage titles automatically get a new clean title upon transfer.
Good luck, keep us informed and send pics!

"i am selling it so cheap because i just have too many cars and i want it out of my garage. price is pretty firm but im always up for FAIR!!! trades. lookin for 84 or 85 4runner with cash on top...."
I mean, i'd have to call bullshit on this guy (and most people who claim they have too many cars). I mean, if you have too many cars, why the hell would you accept trades?? I don't get it...

Cert of Destruction means its no longer road worthy... so basically its worthless to be driven and can never be titled again. And before any raises the b.s on my facts, i'm a dealer and buy cars from iaai.com and copart.com on a daily basis. Only way this car can be driven again would be to export it.
sucks..cause it was a good deal~!

hmmm... it seems pretty legit... assuming you trust the seller... i called him up and he seemed alright. however, i was interested in purchasing this car and getting a rebuilt salvage title for it here in kansas... well, NO CAN DO... i think (at least for kansas), you're stuck with a PARTS car or a car purposely for the track and without it EVER getting titled... eh.

Exactly so the only way to put this car on the street is to buy another chassis and swap the parts over. At 9500 thats way to much money to do that. 5000 would be more like it.

... considering:
the engine and tranny are worth anywhere between $4000-5000,
the rims: $500-600
the side skirts and rear valences: $300-600
the seats: $600-800
front bumper, headlights, corner lights: $300-400
steering wheel: $200-300
cluster: $150-250
5-lug conversion: $800-1100
... that right there is a total of $6850-9050
... and that's not considering doors and other exterior pieces, inside panels, carpet, armrest, bars, shift boot and shifter, suspension, glass, consoles, the shell itself, etc., etc.... i think you maaaaaaaybe able to get this car for a little under 9 grand. anything less than that I'd question why wouldn't he just keep it. the concerns may be that it's a flood damage as previously mentioned or the frame was jacked at one time (i called him up and he said it's neither...
) otherwise, a DEDICATED track worthy car for roughly $9000? can't beat that with a stick.
