K20a3 EF
I have an 89 CRX DX, and was wonder if it would be smart to swap to a k20a3 USDM Type s?
I'm asking because a friend told me that all that power might not hit the ground, and peel out all day.

A type-s is a k20a2. the a3 is the RSX base. Buy some Azenies it will hook good. Also buy an LSD.

Well, think of it this way... It makes 160whp(same as b16a)... It costs the same as a b16a (for the engine), but the parts to put it in are just as expensive as the 220 hp k20a.

160 crank hp. ****, he's lucky if it puts out 135 to the wheels.
you do have a really good point though.

The quote in my sig is in reference to doing a K swap other than a K20A swap. Unless you are doing atleast an A2, then it isn't worth it.

I'll agree and disagree.
It's so cheap now and even though its only 160 hp look at the ft lbs and powerband plus how easy once its all done you can upgrade.
But if you are doing all that work yes I see the point of doing it right the first time.
Just wanted to point out the other veiw on it. If I went K i'd probbly use an a3 honestly.

the a3 is a waste of time. too much fab work for a motor that has virtually NO aftermarket support and will make less power than a gsr (which can nevar loooose)
and im pretty sure the a3 has a 5 speed tranny. it does make more power "under the curve" <--something few people here fully understand, but a gsr with bolt ons is a better horsepower perdollar value than a k20a3.

i'd be cheaper and more toque to get a k24, they are a dime a dozen comming out of rolled elements and totaled accords rather then importing them, and if u swap a k20 head u can get alot more power out of them they ended up with 275 hp with the stock bottom end

Didn't know that Thanks Chad
I am no means a K expert and I thought most the aftermarket was interchangble, guess not. Yea they are 5spds too.
