a, b, d, f, h, series are the series of the motor. and i really think he is lying about the 1.9 litre motor in that rex. cause i dont think and honda motors are 1.9. and the title should say the model. if it is a hf or a si it says on the rear above the passenger side brake light

Get the vin# from him and run it on carfax.com....it will tell you for free what model it is...This really the only way to tell...

And the 88-91 crx came with either a 1.5 or 1.6 ,,,All came with d-series motors (in this country)....The si had D16a6 1.6,,hf had d15b6 1.5,,and dx had D15b2 1.5....

A) What type of engine should i buy?, and what model of crx would i find it in?
B) what upgrades should i get? ie0 headers,pistons, intake?
C)what are some good but not too pricey brands?
D)how much should i plan on spending for the new engine
THANKS ALOT, as you can see, and by my avatar im a noob at this

you are asking the wrong questions right now. what you should do now is learn about CRXs. Than after that learn about the different motors honda has to offer, cuz if you just want an engine from another CRX its not going to make a big differents in power gain. Honda has a bunch of different engines to choose from between Vtec and non-Vtec engine, SOHC or DOHC. it all depends on how much you want to spend and if you are able or can get someone to help you do the swap. It can range from $500 to $8,000(if you want to go K). Good luck and welcome to honda-tech

in this country it goes hf 70 hp or 50hp (its real low) ,,dx 92 hp and si around 106up....

U want to try and get the hf or si since they come mpfi already,,,but the hf has smaller hubs than the rest so if you ever go b-series you'll need diferent hubs....

For a motor..How much $$$ you have? and how fast do you want it? do you want something that just goes right in using stock mounts?

Im speaking english......

Yeah the HF says "HF" on the back like the si....And the DX has nothing back there....But like said the only way to be sure is carfax.....Cause you can take a dx and convert to si and add sunroof,engine,interior,etc..and sell it as an si to some idiot

not by much a dx wont say dx at all. HF says Hf but people most of the time take it off. Si will have a sun roof. now if it doesnt have a sun roof than if you can open the hood look at the engine and see if it is DPFI or MPFI.
