Default 88 HF CRX B16 Project

my friend from utah just moved back to cali, and got a CRX HF that was sitting in his uncles yard for 3 years!!! he tried starting the motor, but it wouldnt start...he finally gave up and decided to get a B16. I was going to sell my CRX, it has a B16, and other goodies...but since a friend needed help, i sold him the complete swap and told him i would help him out...so now we begin our project.

I have Swapped only 2 B16s...so im still learning more and more every time...this is the first HF i have done though, the other two where Si Models. so if you see anything that i am doing wrong, please dont be a dick and start talking crap, i will appreciate any help i can get, mostly with the wiring. I know alot of people like to come on Honda-tech and talk crap, so if your gonna do that, please leave this thread....this thread is for the guys that dont make Honda-tech thier way of life, for those who work fulltime and can only work on thier car one weekend at a time if that! here are some pics of what we got so far.....

heres the crap that needs to come out!

Its out!

That piece you see on the top of the valve cover is a broken piece of the Tranny...hmmm

GET THAT OUT OF HERE!!!

Eventually this will get painted, but as for now we got no time for any of that...i need to get this car out quick status!

this car has been hit in the front...that explains the black hood and bumper...heres the damage

Heres a pic of the interior, you should have seen it before i cleaned it....it had the interior all taken apart. beer bottles from way back, leaves, 4 intakes, 3 spare tires, 95 civic interior parts??? i took all that and kept the good stuff

another friend that hates the import scene because he thinks his piece of sht mustang is so great had to add his little drawing.
i found it funny though

took out the rear "GREEN" springs it came with, and i am putting my old tokiko shocks, and Ground control springs.
probably gonna get rid of the drum brakes and put discs, that is if i dont sell my extra set

we got rid of the blackies, and put on some old GS rims...u can see the hubs that i sold him as well...GSR Hubs, Brembo Rotors, Brand new OE brake pads.

its starting to look more like a CRX...when it came in, it looked like TRASH!

Its IN!!! Place Racing Mounts, Hasport Linkage. I used the same wire harness from my Si....this is my question...do i have to use the HF one?? or will the Si one work??

Next question....this is the HF Map ...
do i have to use this one?? this is waaaaayyyy too many hoses..

this one has Four Pins, as apposed to my Si, which had only 2

So i got an extra Si Map, and hooked that one up with two pins....

so far, this is as far as ive gotten

here is my crx, before i took out basically everything....yes i know its a ZC, this was before my B16 swap....most recent pic...but thats how it looked , just picture B16 in it

here it is after

i sold my si rims to some kid up in palmdale...and well im either gonna sell the frame of the car, or just keep it and do a complete make over...depends on my money situation...but thats for future plans

more to come as the weeks go by. thanks for checking it out.

you need to use the hf harness and if you wanna get rid of all those vacuum hoses on the MAP use an obd1 throttle body that has the map on it

Ill think about it, im still thinking of bringing it back to life. a friend of mine is going to sell me a Single Cam Vtec for 250, and i got enough parts in my garage to get it running again, so i would be able to actually get a little more money out of it. but we will see.....a brotha needs cash right now..im getting my pad soon

Im too busy to read all this other stuff but just to let you know, you HAVE to use your HF engine harness for it, cause thats it's original engine harness and it's the same corresponding year of the vehicle so don't even bother argueing.

Yeah i got alot of stupid kids in my town that think you can switch engine harness...WRONG, lol seems like im the only one that knows this information!?. You know if you do that it's not gonna start and if it does something will be messed up and you will never solve it cause you are using the wrong engine harness. Here is another tip for you, if you ever have to replace the harness because it is torn or ripped/old as hell or cut all up, then you need to find one SPECIFICALLY to your vehicle year, like if you have a 90 HF crx, then you need a 90 HF crx engine harness, if you have a 88 DX civic hatchback, then you need a 88 DX CIVIC HATCHBACK engine harness, blah blah and some more blah blah period.

What did you end up doing with the HF transmission? Did you leave it in the car, or is it possibly available?
