I left my original key at a friends house, so I started my car with the spare. There were a few beeps before the car turned on that I had never heard before. I parked the car and went to work. When I got back into the car to go home later, I pushed the start button and heard a single click. The car wouldn't start or even make a sound. I don't think its the battery because the lights and radio all work fine and I tried to jump it to no avail. I read in the manual that it might be due to the immobilizing system...? Has this happened to anyone? Does it sound like there may be a more serious problem? Thank you for your help.

Is the spare key you're using the one that came with the car? S2k's have immob. chips in the head of the key.

Grab your key from your friend's house and give it another go.

 

If it let you start it the first time with the spare, its probably not the key. Is the green immobilizer light flashing as your turing the key? If not, its probably the battery.
