Default So I bought 2 Exhausts for my 91 K20 Swaped CRX HKS 50mm and Invidia 60mm Time to choose!!

I got ahold of a new EF9 HKS Sport Exhaust and a Bran Invidia EF8 Exhaust I liked them both so I got both of them. I like the HKS muffler better because of the grasroots look. The invida has a big old honken muffler but it should put out more power with the 60mm piping vs the HKS 50mm piping. I was thinking of using a cut out on the Header for drag racing and keeping it closed for autocross and street use. What would you do!!

I would go with the invidia, I love them. The HKS is awesome too though. The good news is which ever one you pick you won't be making a bad decision.

Either of them are too small imo, esp the 50mm, thats way too small for a K motor. Both will have to be cut and modified, I would sell both and get a custom exhaust made

I did a serch on all RSX type-S Exhausts and they are all 60mm so I think Ill be fine with the Invidia. The motor is just going to have cams, AEM EMS and a few bolt ons. No turbo or anything. At most Ill be looking at 220-230 whp. Anyone want to buy an HKS sport exhaust its new

If you search more you will find that to make the most power your going to need a bigger exhaust, there is no point in spending 2500 on cams and an EMS if your going to run a small exhaust. Sell the both of them and have a custom 3 inch made

Yeah or buy a 3" thermal. I'm gonna sell my 2.5" thermal and buy a 3".

It's the only 3" catback available for our cars. You will have to cut it to fit your header. I know when I test fit my swap my header was way past the front of my 2.5" thermal. I personally prefer stainless catbacks over custom for their quality, and corosion resistence. Not that my car ever sees rain or snow, lol. I've not yet used a thermal 3" on a NA car yet myself, but many others have. There is a guy from Europe on here that had a crx with a built NA B using one, and I beleive he is switching to a K. My friend has a 3" on his turbo 00 Si thats the only firsthand experience I've had with one. It is a great peice, and sounds awesome.

I have a DTR Fab Sigma Six 4-2-1. Sorry I should have specified that. I bleieve Ryan (droppedcrxsi) had a hasport header, he might now how it fit better. I'm pretty sure whatever you do your probally going to have to cut and weld something, I could be wrong though. They way the K fits it almost seems like it has to be that way.

3" Exhaust is way to big for a N/A 4 cylinder. If you had turbo or S/C then 3" is the way to go. Stick with the 2.5" exhaust you'll be a lot happier with it.

GTFO do you know anything about K series motors? OR anything about fully built B series NA motors? IF you did then you would know Ryan, Chris, and I speak the truth. If you want to make power with a K 3" is where it is at.

Thats not a fully built motor and a 2.5" Exhaust is not a restriction under 300hp.

You have any dyno graphs with a K series with bolt-ons, back to back one with 3" exhaust and one with 2.5" exhaust???

There were posts on K20a.org in the past where they figured it out. BTW the motor I got from Chris was stock, with IHE, hondata k-pro, and a Hondata gasket. It made 221whp, w/ 3". Ryan mad 222whp ifc with his similar setup. With cams, you should be able to hit 250 easy. BTW 220whp NA is really nothing to sneeze at. If you hang around on the allmotor forum, there are lots of chaps using 3" on 220whp+ setups.

Ya, 3inch is best man, I HAD the hasport header, and its longer than the stock exhaust location, you will have to cut some off... the six sigma, which I have now... is 11" past that!

Ryan

I found this first still looking though...
http://img.photobucket.com/alb...i.jpg

The only thing I have to say about it is look at the dates of the dyno pulls...the 2.5 was done in the summer and the 3" in the beggining of fall. So you can't really say the 3" is way better cause of the temperature differences.

Thats the only comparo dyno I cound and thats not good enough to justify 3" is way better on that motor.

On the other hand since the thread creator mentioned that hes 52 years old maybe he should go with the 60mm exhaust.

JUst because he is 52 doesn't mean he can't go fast. Thats not being fair to the guy.
